You know , you are right !

I just re-read my post and you could easily insert Tony's name and it would seem to fit him , too !

In that light , Danica doesn't act much different from many others ! :O:

They Started 18 cars, had to run 200 laps and she got to the finish line in front of the other 17. She simply won the race.

I like how everyone one that does not like Danica is automaticly a sexist POS

How come everyone that is not a fan of Milka is not also a sexist POS? Oh that is right because she is not a WHITE AMERICAN she is just another one of those latino foreginers so it is all right not to like her. Look inward before you start looking outside you may not like what you see

If you read prevous posts you know I do not support her for her actions not because of her gender or the color of her skin. I judge her only over those actions that she has control over. I am a fan of Sarah, Legge, Mockler, Erica Santos and glad to see Ana Betritz doing well in Indy Lights

A woman won an Indy car race yes she did so what we knew it was a matter of time before it happened

One day a woman will win a Nascar race

Women have won USAC races for years and even a USAC championship

Women have won in NHRA for decades.

Danica did not break down barriers that was done by strong willed women before her

No one is preventing women from racing at the top level

We hear everyday that we all are equal regardless gender, race or orintation. I fully belive this and anyone can do anything just as well as anyone else if they put their heart into it and make it happen. We all choose our own paths in life.
If everyone is equal then why is the first african american to do this, the first woman to do that or the first homosexual to do what ever is a news story.

Danica has become a WOMAN that won not a fourth year driver to get finally get their first win

This years Presidential race is down between a female, a black man and an old white guy. If you do not support the black man you are a racist and if you do not support the female you are a sexist.

Why does it matter and why is it not simply three Senitors running against each other.

In time we will have a black president, a female president, a latino president, a jewish president and even one day a homosexual president. When that time is depends on the person and their actions and should not depend on any other factor that they do not have control over. Years ago a woman became prime minister of England because she was the best person for the job and it was oh yeah our prime minister is a female not we have a female prime minister

Sarah is a race car driver that just happens to be female and wants to be treated the same as any other driver on the track

Danica is a female race car driver that is treated differently because she is not a male

Out of curiosity, how many of these drivers that you have criticized have you seen running in person? How many races have you been to when a car runs routinely at over 200 mph for an entire race? Yeah, that's what I thought. It takes considerable skill and courage to do that. Courage, which you do not have. Signing your name to a post takes courage, especially when you are down on just about everything that we like about racing here in the USA.

You seem to have a negative opinions of just about every USA based motorsport. I don't comment on racing in Australia because I don't know about it. Why don't you go to another forum down there where people share your opinions? Because your rants on this board are getting you nowhere mate.:moon: Come back here when you grow up and have even somewhat of an idea of what you are talking about.

There is no doubt that Danica has talent. She is fast, safe, and will most likely win a race every other year or so. She is great for the IRL, everyone wants to hear what she has to say (or see what she has to say). Those that refer to her as a "whiner" even listen. The girl is a media happening.

What sucks is I have been a long time Indy Car fan, most of my beer drinking gang support NASCAR, for years the debate is which series has the most talent. I will never win that argument again!!! To any argument we have their response will be DANICA.

I don't post anything other than factual observations or queries, and as you are the only one who takes issues with that routinely, your views are quite plainly not representative of the whole of the United States of America.

You also are unable to comprehend that I am not gushing with affection for Danica Patrick, a driver who until yesterday had not won a race since her time in karting over ten years prior. You can not handle the fact that she and a whole cohort of "Indycar" drivers are inept. Are you next going to compare her to Mario Andretti, Al Unser (either), Jacques Villeneuve, Alessandro Zanardi, Ted Horn or Sebastien Bourdais and declare her superior? You fail to see that the supposed Indycar series is a ruination of a now broken (courtesy of the last ever Champ Car race) almost 100 year history of championship racing-now with drivers often of no proven talent using abysmal cars (with an unnerving tendency for flight and a specification Honda engine) as a way to NASCAR. The Indianapolis 500 once the bastion of innovation, speed and excitement for which you had to inherit tickets, turned into an event where you can buy a ticket on the day because despite reduced seating it still won't sell out. Championship racing going backwards from a huge series with an even bigger feature race to a relativity large race with an ignored series attached. A "vision" to improve the sport that despite at least 4 "re-visions" has only succeeded in reinventing a poor version of CART. Yet despite this, it is apparently all better than ever before. Now tell me, am I the one with the issue?

I think smbperformance summed it up best:

The underlying issue you have is that I won't praise her as some sort of demi-god and have the facts to prove she is not all that great. There once was a gentleman named Nelson Philippe who won a Champ Car race. I was there, I met the guy several times and I liked him a lot. But he wasn't fantastic, he hadn't had much success in any form of racing yet he won a fuel mileage race too. The difference is just as smb said. If Nelson had been treated as some sort of demi-god, you would kick up an enormous and phenomenal stink, but because he wasn't female congratulated him and moved on. He is now a minor footnote in the history of Championship racing.

As for not liking US motorsport, ummm...
I love:
Midgets
Big Block Modifieds and 358s
World of Outlaws/410ci winged
USAC/CRA and National
American Le Mans Series
Formula Atlantic
Star Mazda
AMA Superbikes
NASCAR Nationwide (except their road racing which has really FUBAR'd rules)
Whelen (or whatever they are now called) modifieds
Supermodifieds (with or without the top wing)

I loved:
Championship racing pre-IRL and FTG's games and subsequent ruination of the sport
Group C/IMSA (Seen plenty of races on the net/video)

I don't like:
Lame Models
UMP/IMCA Modifieds
IRL and IPS (don't go sullying the name of the IndyLites)
Spec series (with the aforementioned as the only exceptions)
Buttmobiles (which thankfully are now dead)
Slick tracks

Yup, I hate US racing.
Sorry, all this drivel and you still don't have a clue.:kookoo

Just think, if Danica were Australian, the Queen would be wanting to bestow knighthood upon her.

Don't bother, Gregg. He watches TV, surfs the net, and reads books. He must know more than those of us who have been attending races for over 50 years, right?:kookoo Aussiemidgetfan, if you have so much aggression that you must always be antagonistic with your posts I suggest finding another way to deal with it. Perhaps you could box a kangaroo.:moon:

Dwight, I don't know how you do it all the time, but you always seem to find the right words. Right on brother. Assiemidgetfan (sp?) wouldn't know a real race if it bit him in the:moon:. :O:

I was listening to the race on the radio. At about 50 laps to go she was instructed to pit for fuel and stick to a strigent 3.55 mpg.

I think she was the only driver to do that. She wasn't really
racing. People were dicing and racing throughout the day.

Some tried to save fuel and came close to making it. One
dropped out and some had to come in for fuel.

If there was one yellow that strategy would of failed. But they
went 50 laps of racing without a yellow.

So she won.

No big deal. If I liked Danica I would of said great. I just
don't like her but good for her. My congradulations, but I could
care less about anything she does or her family because I personally
don't like her. My choice.

The big deal about a women winning in motorsport is lost now.
Nobody really cares unless it's a young lady the public likes,
and I think there could be some in the future that might shine
through. The current crop has few if any likely prospects that
shine, like maybe Jeff Gordon did when he entered the big
ranks, from some lower level of racing.

In general Danica was good in what she did, but never was superior.

I think they thought anybody could be made a winner with a lot
of backing and money and good cars, etc. What we have found
is there are truely very few outstanding drivers in any sport or
leaque.

I got a feeling right now in Sprint Cup, Kyle Bush is considered great!

I don't think anybody cares about the women deal anymore. Its
kind of a lost topic or subject. And if you think Danica with her
swimsuit issues and everything else she does and says sets a role model
for young women you are all hypocrits. She don't even come close
to being a role model. She is just another person who would sell
he sole to the devil to be a great driver. Most racers are probably
in the same category as in life. Most of us would sell our soles
to have much, get advancement or be better than the next guy.

My best always,

Sincerely,

Larry Otani
