Heck of a race tonight. Hunter around the top after having to restart at the rear.
Kokomo also got us in and out before 10PM. I drove home replaying the race in my head rather than thinking its late and I have to work in a few hours.
Well done!!

Kokomo just seems to get better every week. Hunter drove above the cushion and right up next to the wall after being relegated to the tail after going pitside for some work after the initial start. Casey sure was entertaining first giving Brian the finger in front of everyone in the grandstands and then by walking up to show his displeasure with the call. He still ended up running one of the B mains and didn't transfer out to the feature. After the first lap wreck that took out some of the usual front runners, the racing was still top notch with many battles going on throughout the pack. The O'Connor's have made this THE place to be on Sunday nights. The track surface was great and they did a little prep during intermission but the joint was racy all night.:thumb

Too bad the first lap wreck took out a few of the big contenders but watching hunter run from the back was almost as good or better than the race would have been without the wreck

Just got home from Kokomo, but wanted to throw in my 2 cents worth. First, I am beginning to think that Kokomo is the best weekly track in the country of those I have seen, and I have seen more than a few. It just keeps getting better and better. Buy a DVD of last night's race. If you don't have a DVD player, buy a DVD player and buy the DVD. One of the most exciting races I have ever seen. Not only did Hunter come from the back, but his drive was just a beauty to see. Don't know how he kept it on the track with some of the times that slower cars (relatively speaking) who he was passing suddenly pulled up into the top right in front of him. He passed the top five like they had hit the brakes.
One thing I didn't see anyone say about the Shuman/flagman incident was that the flagman threw down his flags when he thought Casey jumped. I don't think I have ever seen a flagman so out of control. My belief is that, whatever happens on the track, the flagman should be the one in control, keeping his cool, not losing his temper in full view of the grandstands. Just my opinion, I might be wrong. And I don't remember them being so touchy about absolutely not touching the gas until you are at the cone coming out of 4, but that could just be memory. Seems to me they decided you should idle out of 4 and then drag race down the front straight.
I really feel sorry for all of you who missed the show. It had everything. Hard to believe it was just a weekly show.

The flagman threw his flags after the first two attempts were yellowed and he sent the front row to the rear. Casey was on pole for the third attempt and started exactly how and where you should but the track was better for the guys in the inside lane so it looked like they were jumping the start. Casey was sent to the rear after only one attempt.
I vote Hunter #1 nonwing driver in the country right now. That was wild and scary! I thought he was gonna knock down the wall in turn 1 many times!
