OK, I live in Cincinnati. So anything but the Burg is 100-200 miles one way. I've attended 18 races so far this year only 8 at the Burg, Count the miles. I understand the travel to get to see what you want.
I understand, Run the Premier division first.
FACT. The Midgets were run first and were the Premier. Started about 940.
Sprints for all intensive purposes, Were a Support class, no different than the mods.
Apreciate you coming down, Heck theres threads on here about how efficent and quick The Burg runs the program.
We all know crap happens, I'll agree it was long and after about 25 minutes, You just wanted it done with. As i was pointing out. Sometimes the Premier division stinks it up.
I just look at it this way, We were out a extra 20+ minutes to see the other support class (BONUS BTW) I don't think Midget week would be nearly as successful without the Sprints as it is, for the number of Midget shows we see per year. (Mostly one per track).
Many of them Mod drivers are out 20hrs of work or a couple grand to fix the car. (Or both). I'll take the 20 minutes now and then and move on. (I FEEL LUCKY)
LBurg had cars on the track almost the whole time in the night. I even felt it was being rushed a bit as after the last consi, I expected a little break, We'll I barely made the restroom and before I got back to my seat, Half the midget feature had pushed off.
Its not like he was trying to sell one more hotdog to turn a profit.
Everyone here is talking about the "FUTURE OF DIRT TRACK RACING"? Thats kinda funny when I am sitting in the stands with my 9 year old and 15 year old sons and they wanna leave because its 11:00 at night and they have been sitting there since 6pm hot laps and we havent seen the sprint car feature yet. Kids that age are the future and if tracks dont do something to speed up the program the future will be gone. Eldora this year and Roger Slack have been amazing at getting the show done and over. We were out of there during the WoO show at 9:35. The problem I have seen lately, specially at Bloomington is drivers killing their engines when they lose several spots to bring out the caution, this happend multiple times Friday.
It was over before midnight, yet you're crying like it's the end of the world you lost an hour of sleep one night while at the RACES! It's fans like you that cause promoters to start the night earlier and earlier garunteeing the slick dusty conditions you then later complain about. I'm with the promoter on this one.
Long mod race....yes....did it bother me....no. I was staying at the track over night anyway so it gave me some time to chat with the IOW people that i only get to see a couple times a year. I also made it through the sprint feature but the eye lids were getting heavy! It was nice to chat with Dave Rudisell Saturday afternoon as he jammed hard on the brakes of the golf cart as he was passing us. Also spoke with him before we left Sunday morning. The guy has a ton of work to do on race weekends and it's sure nice when he stops for a minute to say hi.
BTW, we ran the Premier class 1st, feature was around 9:30pm!! The sprints were a support class just like the mods. Just saying, and we were done around 11:45. OMG!!

Dave, I would hope you would be more dissapointed in 11:45 than anyone. Hoping I missed the sarcasm. See you at Sprintweek. We traveled 3 hours to attend, after work, so right or wrong an efficient program plays into future decisions. I do agree the sprints were a support class to the midgets, I do understand that, but that modified race was poorly executed. Good luck the rest of the year.

By the way I have no problem with support classes. Sometimes I think they can speed up a show creating less down time. I also know if you would have ran them last they would have went green to checkered with no yellows. Thats the way stuff goes.
I drove over 600 miles to be there and it wasn't for The 24 Hours of LeModifieds.
Also I know that USAC suggested that the track should water the top before the midget A-main and was told no it should be fine like it is. Had they done that as USAC wanted it may have given the mods a little better surface to run on and shortened it to The 12 Hours of LeModifieds instead.
