Would sitting some of those big Dump truck tires on top of that wall soften the impact of hitting that hard edge? and maybe keep some of these track leavers in? Just remembering KAMP a little here and don't want to see another Hmiel type incident.[COLOR="Black"]

IMO, at Terre Haute, the biggest problem isn't going over the wall. It's when the cars hit the wall or land on top of the wall that wreaks havoc. As we saw with Hmiel last year and Gardner this past Saturday, that wall is dangerous with its sharp edges. Tires on top of the wall would be a good start. When THAT installed the wall that is currently in place, they probably should have gone for the the tall series of armco barriers that Knoxville has.

I think you're way off. With THAT's configuration it's much safer for the cars to go over the wall. It has sharper corners than Knoxville so the cars flip at it at a different angle. Ascot had a low wall with padding on top and a soft catch fence about a car length behind to slow down flips. I believe they used tires on top of the wall. That was designed over 30 years ago and worked perfect. The original guard rail at THAT never seemed to hurt anybody either. It would be good for them to do one or the other.

They'll never spend the money on that much guard rail. The cheapest fix would be to remove the top layer of cement block and sell them. Then use the money to buy and install either foam blocks or old tires. I think foam block would look better and they could paint them to match. My number one choice would be a copy of the original guard rail!

Couldn't agree more! Kid is on a tear hope he can win the National Sprint Title this year! Definately gonna be tough to do tho, Levi's obviously as consistant as they come.

I don't think it is safer to flip out of the track. I was in turn 1 the night mark Cassella flip over the guard rail and rolled several times hitting a tree. The old guard rail had to be replaced as it was less than a foot high in places and two thirds of the post had rotted away. It was just waiting to cut a car in half.

Typically, "Armco" Steel Barriers are not a good idea.
