I've been to some great races at the Indy mile and i've also been to some lackluster events. I brought a few drag racing females to their first dirt race ever last year and we parked in the infield and had a good time. But at the end of the day they asked me do these things ever pass?

They say hot laps at 6 qualies at 7 and racing at 8. When was the last time that happened? You have lots of people that come to town for Indy weekend and want a race a night, but when a race takes forever to run the out of towners who are not SC fans end up at the closest pub and watch NASCAR qualies and can you blame them? I am quite sure if the race went off on sched. the crowds would come back. An out of towner could see the race go have a cocktail and get some sleep so they could go to The Lil 500 or The Night Before Midgets. |

I am a HUGE fan of the Silver Crown cars and would give my left you-know-what to have a ride for the Indy mile. That being said, allthough I am disappointed with the 50 lap split, it's still better then them not being there at all. By all means, if you are displeased with this decision, e-mail or write to USAC or who ever, but don't skip the race. And for the record, last years race really wasn't decided until the last couple of laps. If somebody's tire doesn't go flat, things could of been different.

Somebody else might get a laugh out of this. I e-mailed Track Enterprises and said that I believe that the only reason to stop a race is safety. Just got a reply from them that was the reason; that they didn't want the cars to start with 800 lbs of fuel. Does that not sound like a load of crap? E-mail them your thoughts.

WOW, 800 pounds. Last time I did the math it was about 8 pounds a gallon. I have never seen a 100 gallon Silver Crown Car Fuel cell. |

AP64, I agree. Another reason I said sounds like crap. Don't you just love to be lied to?
Jerry, yes I'd like to see you win a hundred miler, but a real one not twin 50's. And I'm sure that is what you want to win. |

Track Enterprises has run very efficient shows at DuQuoin the past several years... Good track prep too - the racing has been fantastic including the Richie Tobias classic a few years back.
Watching the Silver Crown cars under the lights at the DuQuoin Mile is one of the most beautiful things in motor sports. I love the dirt miles and the Silver Crown cars and if the promoter feels like this is something that has to be "tried" for a year or two, so be it... I may not like it messing with my 34th straight year at DuQuoin, but just like the Hoosier 100 - I'd rather have a lap 51 red flag race than no race at all. Maybe someone wants to step up and promote a September Hulman 100 at Indy and do it the classic 100 miler way without the red flag stop? |

DuQuoin under the lights is wonderful! And the track prep is always great.
But, what I'm saying is to take a minute and e-mail Track Enterprises your thoughts. They can't be expected to read our minds, but a polite e-mail could help keep our hundred milers and help them to promote a better race if they know more about what the fans want. track@trackenterprises.com (217)764-3200 |

If anyone thinks that they will do any track prep during the break you are really flipped out.
