He's right. ..Memphis, Gateway, ...they weren't putting people in the stands, and yes I was there.

Honestly, the new cars aren't putting people in the stands, either. They're just piggy-backing on other events. And those events are dwindling.....what exactly is the schedule for this year??

It's gonna take some major work to save the asphalt portion of the Silver Crown schedule no matter what cars they run....

I can't argue with that. But I think sometime one has to re-invent one's self to keep up with the times. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Is SC working yet? Maybe not, but let's give Kevin Miller and company a chance to make it work. I have faith. I will continue to support it, and no I don't have a dog in this fight. I am just a fan, which doesn't seem to mean too much around here sometimes.

One thing is for sure the old sc cars were having a hard time getting people in the stands. And yes the new sc cars are running as a piggy-back series but at least people are watching and most of those folks are not openwheel fans.So even if we get a small number of these non fans to watch and spark an interest thats a few more fans that openwheel may get to come out and support a local sprint or midget race.Everyone knows that openwheel is in need of new fans and running the new sc cars on CUP weekends is just one chance to get a new fan.

I agree running Silver Crown cars on a Cup weekend could bring new fans in if USAC can exploit it. Not saying they don't but an advertising campaign that shows the drivers that have come from USAC and in NASCAR now would certainly help draw fans to USAC. If USAC could promote guys that came from USAC to NASCAR and use their sucess to get people exposed to up and coming drivers the fan base would grow alot for both series.

It is something that can be done, it will take work but it can and hopefully will be done.

I agree that running the SC on Cup weekends could be a good thing. However, they need to be scheduled as a more integral part of the weekend. Of the SC races we know about so far for '08 there will be three on Cup weekends. Darlington, ORP (Cup @ Indy), and Phoenix. But all of those SC races are on Thursdays, before the majority of the crowds show up. That needs to change if USAC is to get benefits from running on those weekends.

Thanks. I am going to try really hard to be more open minded. I may never accept the new cars but I will voice opposition more responsibly than before.
