Originally I was going to suggest the middle of June. Now that Midget week will be in June, just move Illinois speedweek to the former Indiana Midget week dates in August instead.

Having those races on the Springfield Silver Crown week would probably work out quite nicely, too...good call, Quinn!

I admit the idea of an Illinois Sprint Week sounds good, but some of the tracks you folks have mentioned would likely have at least 4 support classes per night. No thanks (and I live in Illinois)
Can you say "black slickies"?

Not good to run them before the silver crown race in Springfield unless they change the week of the touring topless sprint bandits.A lot of the cars that might run the IL. deal have followed that tour every year they have ran it and it pays out good to.

I was thinking the week before Tour N Topless. Just like this year. (I did both)

It could start off with POWRI midgets at the Arnie Knepper Memorial at Little Belleville. Who says it has to be all sprint cars?? Couple nights of midgets in the mix is fine with me.

Hammer and Bill,
Schedule looks good. possibly the 3-7 would be better. Let us know if we can help in any way. Scheduling against USAC eastern tour would be fine for all of us. A couple of good points brought up. The one thing you have to watch out for with a sprint week type deal is too many support classes. The fans that will travel and support all five nights will not sit through 3 or 4 or 5 support classes.
As far as Lincoln, Jacksonville, and Granite city I don't think all of you guys out their need to worry about track conditions. They all seem to have it figured out. At least every race I was at last year at all three had many classes and still very good tracks. Don't know anything about Shepps track and Canton would be tough with out some serious track prep. Hard to keep that place wet without building huge Cushion....

Nothing wrong with good old fashion cushion. Spoon river is fairly dark at the top of the track and when it gets big it sometimes gets too big. One of my favorite tracks but I also know promoters and how they feel about non wing open wheel cars and huge cushions.
