I don't think anyone can claim it wasn't exciting.

First time ever to TSS, didn't like the multiple tractor races we endured, but loved the racing!! As far as dust, it wasn't near as bad as Gas City was! Stanbro was on rails, Clauson put on a show that I'd pay $ to have on video, and Levi did what he is good at-consistency! Night sucked for Darland, Kyle Cummins looked like the car to beat early in his heat race but couldnt get it going in the A. I'm pulling for Stanbro to pull this one out for ISW and USAC champion and I'm not booing anyone!

Yes it was dusty, but not so much that you couldn't see (if your complaint is you got dirty, see above comment). And the track was as racy as anywhere in the US tonight, I'd bet on that. |

I saw something amazing with my own two eyes tonight, yet still pulled out of Tri-State Speedway not sure that I believed what I had just seen. Bryan Clauson had caught Jon Stanbrough once, was fought off by the future Hall-of-Famer, regrouped and was chasing him down, again when he caught the cushion and rolled it, in turn 2. And this wasn't one of those gentle, garden variety Tommy Tipovers, either. He dumped it kind of hard. Hard enough where you thought "Surely there has to be some kind of damage that will effect the performance of the car." His night seemed to be over. But, watching BC after the wreck, not once did I see any indication that he was thinking about unbuckling and getting out of his race car. They quickly got him on the hook and had him in the work area. Then, just a short time later, you looked and the black machine was sitting in the exit of turn two, waiting to be pushed off. What a noble quality to not give up, but there was no way in that short of a period of time he would be ready to be competitive in this deep, talented field. Especially on a track this fast. As soon as the green was thrown, that type of thinking was shattered, as he just started sawing through the field at a furious rate. A few laps in he was in the top 10, had broken into the top 5 a couple of laps after that. It was just unbelievable! Not only was this a virtuoso performance, but it also took someone with a pit bull mentality to even think about pulling it off. Only a few minutes earlier, this same guy was flat on the canvas, getting counted out.
As thankful as I am to have been there to have witnessed this, I left there wishing that he had made one pass less, than he did, though. He took third from Chase Stockon, who had driven his guts out, from his 20th starting position all the way up to third. I really wanted to see him make it to the podium, because he's pretty much been driver and crew chief all rolled into one, for this whole series and has been holding his own against the best out there, on a low budget team. That's why I'm such a huge Chase Stockon fan. This kid's a fighter. He doesn't make any excuses (and God knows he could if he wanted to), he just shows up, straps in and just races his a55 off. Week in and week out. If Chase has t-shirts in size XL, I'm going to own one tomorrow. As great as those two drivers were tonight, the one man who took on all challengers and left the king of the hill, was Jon Stanbrough. Clauson took some good shots at him, led briefly, but then was passed back. And after the Clauson flip, Levi had nothing for Jon and settled into second, as the winner checked out and drove off into the horizon. And another great job by Tommy and his whole crew. It was a tricky track during qualifications, but they broke it back down and turned it into another racy surface that yielded another great night of racing at Tri-State Speedway.

I have never seen Haubstadt this dusty in the 28 years hat I have been going there. Not complaining, as Tri-State is my home track but I am just surprised by it. Is it he new dirt he brought in this year?

Or is it because this is the dryest summer in 28 years?

STANBROUGH SOARS TO HAUBSTADT "SPRINTWEEK" WIN
Haubstadt, Indiana…….It became six winners in six nights of the 25th AMSOIL “Indiana Sprintweek” as Jon Stanbrough of Avon, Indiana picked up his second win of the season on Saturday night at Tri-State Speedway. Stanbrough led throughout, but the race was slowed on numerous occasions over the first half of the race. After moving to second just before halfway, Bryan Clauson used a lap 17 restart to go for the lead. The two exchanged slide-jobs and cross-overs before Stanbrough cleared Clauson. The two both ran the cushion, but Clauson nailed it in turn-two on lap 19 and flipped. After Clauson changed a flat left-rear tire and restarted 17th, Stanbrough found another gear out front and stretched out a monster lead over the final twelve laps to win by a healthy margin in the Roberts/Tate Racing – Leer Racing #21x DRC/Speedway. “I was trying to save a little back and wasn’t running as hard as I could, but then I saw Bryan come at me there around halfway and knew I had to pick it up a notch. We had the red and I got a few signals from (crew chief) Daryl (Tate), and I ran a pretty good pace after that. I gotta thank all of our sponsors and the fans for helping us get through this week, and especially my crew,” Stanbrough said. Levi Jones started from row-two and raced within the top-five throughout the race, finally clearing Jonathan Hendrick to safely put himself in the second spot, where he finished in the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing – Chevy Performance #20 Maxim/Kistler. “We just hung in there and ripped the cushion the whole time and came up a little bit short. We’re still in the hunt, and it’s always great to come here to Haubstadt. I love to hear the cheers and the boos at this place,” Jones said. Unbelievably, Clauson regrouped from his earlier mistake and put on a charge for the ages over the final twelve laps. He was back into the top-ten in just a couple laps and moved all the way to the third-spot without the aid of another caution in the Curb Records – R&B Trucker’s #7 Maxim/Fisher. “I pretty much just stepped on it there. I really thought our Sprintweek was over because of me flipping like an idiot. But we rallied, and that’s what championships are made of. It’s not the night we could have had, but we salvaged and we’ll try to go to Putnamville tomorrow and knock one off,” Clauson said. The trio has now solidified themselves as the contenders for this year’s “Indiana Sprintweek” crown, as Jones holds a twelve-point over both Stanbrough and Clauson, who are tied for second. Hendrick finished off a solid night by recording his career-best finish of fourth in the McAlister’s Deli – Hendrick Pool #68 Spike/Foxco. Chase Stockon put on a show of his own, scoring the Schroeder Torsion Bars “Hard Charger Award” by rallying from 20th to finish fifth in the Terre Haute First Financial Bank – Superior Tank & Trailer #32 DRC/Fisher.
