if ANY feature 30-40 laps takes that long, then that is ridiculous.

The 45 minute or however long it took was a bit unbearable. What i don't understand is what you think can be done to prevent this from happening in the future. The support class for the WOO show was???? Modifieds. I think 45 minutes to run any 20 lap feature is too long regardless of what class of cars.
I can only think of two things that would have helped the feature move along faster. A 30 minute intermission before the features while they worked the track or squirrel cages in the pit area.

Thanks to all of you who attended the races Saturday. Things went really well, The Midget Heats were Awesome!! The Midget Feature was pushed off around 9:30pm, What a great race it was. The Mod feature took a while, but in the end it was great to see Adam Hamilton get his 1st win. And by the time the Sprints took to the track it was slick, but good racing and over around 11:45. I apologize to anyone that thought the races took to long. But as a very good friend once told me..."it is what it is" I myself had a great time, and got to see some of my dear IOW friends.
For all you Modified fans, racing this weekend will be the Mods, Purestocks, hornets and the TQ's. Only $8 admission and includes all the fair rides you can handle. Everyone have a great week at work!!

To all the hardcore (anti-support class) sprint car fans:

You guys should take a take a good hard look at your own class and tell me where it would be without the support classes. Lets just look at a few drivers and what they cut their teeth racing.
Jeff Bland Jr. (Mods) ; Brady Short (Mods) ; Shane Cottle (Mods) ; Josh Burton (Super Stocks) just to name a few

My point is where would sprint car racing be without the support classes. It would be non-existent because no promoter can afford to have one class a night. LPS is running super stocks with the sprints Thursday, and I will be in attendance because of that. I like sprints, but not enough to watch a show of just sprint cars, and I know a lot of people are the same way. The little added bonus of a support class is enough to encourage me to go though.

I understand midget week is a special event, and maybe a support class should not have been on hand with the sprints and midgets. But the promoter decided they were going to race too. That means they deserve to go out there and run their races. I applaud the promoter for allowing the mods to run their race to the entirety. I'm sure the mod guys that spent dozens of hours last week preparing their cars and spent hundreds of dollars to come support Lawrenceburg Speedway appreciate it.

As a Modified driver sitting in the stands it was a bit embarrassing but none of them made a mistake I haven't. I used the time wisely. Met with old friends, told people about seeing Marv earlier in the day and encouraged others to visit him, checked updates from other tracks and just enjoyed being with real race fans. Dave and crew tried to do the right thing by giving the guys doing double duty a break between races. It backfired on them. Maybe they didnt take into consideration what you guys would think because they knew no matter what you would find something to complain about. I think when the race got to the 15 or 20 minute part maybe we need an opt out plan where the remaining cars are sent to the infield and are not allowed to work on the cars. Then run the sprint feature and then put the mods back on the track to complete the feature. Maybe the time out would give them all a chance to calm down and think about how horrible they are for ruining your evening.

yes the mod guys did pay the same to race as sprint guys did but most of us on here were not there to see mods we were there to see sprints and midgets ...my whole opinion on mods are tacky track good racing black slick dusty they suck..i think ump needs to make some rule changes to make them more fan friendly....more spoiler bigger tires or something...i have seen some good mod shows and i seen some like saturday that were painful...i had been up since 2 am going to work and after 30 minutes i was done had to go home and get to bed as i had hour and a half drive....

Chiming in once again, Hey Tommy, How about all the Kings Royals that got done at 130am and had support classes? The fact that they were 360 or 305 sprints MAKE THEM ANY BETTER THAN A MOD?

I seen one Kings Royal that the track litterally came apart with a three foot high ledge mid track that had 14 yellows, Three reds and took 2:15. Eight cars finished, Five on the lead lap and Kinser started 15th and won. Oh and the Night before did the same thing with two support classes that night.

As for Time limits Changing format ect. I don't like em.

Stop the working on cars under caution, Put in the two spin rule and Tire changes only for top 15 in points.

Charles, those would be races I paid to see but didn't get to. When it gets to frustrating I simply head home and that's happened more times at the big E in the last several years than I can remember in the 25 years before. I remember a USAC show there a few years ago after a new track record was set in qualifying, they brought the grader out before the heats. I think 5 of the first six shows that year saw lengthy delays to re-grade the track, unacceptable. Look, I'm a guy that always buys a pit pass, I don't get in free. I tend to go to the more special shows as I am a major sprint car fan, both wing and non-wing, I love them all. Going to these shows, like last night at Kokomo, I drive 120 miles all on state routes and it was 2 hours and fifteen minutes each way on a Sunday night. When I go to a special show, I feel there is a responsibility to run the premier division for those who made the trip. My nephew races weekly at Waynesfield and they have 6 classes a night, no problem, it's a WEEKLY show and I just chill at the trailer until the sprints race. When Speedweek is at Waynesfield they will give the sprints priority, as they well should. Man, you people on here are nasty if anyone has a critique or different opinion than you. Remind me to never stop at one of your meet and greets, which is a shame I'd love to get to know a few of you, or at least I thought I would. Oh and by the way I just had this talk with a friend who is still taking photos and is a great guy, the Kings Royal should just be 410's no support classes, the night before is cool for the 360's but on the big night save the track for the big show and again throw the checkered flag before 11pm. Not everyone lives around the corner from the racetrack.

I wasn't counting laps, but it was a bunch of them.
If it was a total of 83 laps and a 3/8 mile track, that makes that race speed average 46.6875 mph.
Personally, I haven't been to many dirt track races, kind of a newbie at this. Enjoying going to different tracks, pretty much wondering why I didn't do this years ago.
Lot's of people in the stands complaining about this race and about the Sprint race being stopped.
Dirt track fans certainly aren't shy about things!
