Normally I don't, but I think he has a good point this time. I understand the idea of a guy running for a championship at a track having a problem and working out something with another driver to jump in a car already in the feature to protect his points position. At Indy, if a car is too slow, another team has an extra car and a driver wants to jump in it, get up to speed and qualify your way in, more power to you. Buying your way into the race after being too slow to make it, even if it has happened in the past, just doesn't seem right to me.

IndyCar racing is a business! It stopped being a hobby or a "gentleman's sport" years ago (IMO in the 70's). As a business, the most important thing is the bottom line. Look at what happens in most nonracing businesses today. People are NOT a resource...they are a commodity. While I don't agree with what has happened this week at Indy, I certainly understand why it has happened, and I agree, it has been happening for years. It just usually doen't invovle high profgile owners like these.

What is sad is that we are seeing the same thing happening at the local short tracks. Drivers like Dave Darland, Jerry Coons Jr., Tracy Hines, et al lose rides because of money, not because they lack talent. Like it or not (and I don't) we cannot go back to the glory days of the 60's and 70's. We can support our sport and try to influence its direction with our voices, our wallets and our hearts.

Yup, RHR filled in for Vitor while he recovered.

Also, I don't think this is the first time Bruno got the boot. Didn't Tagliani (this years polesitter) miss the race last year and the team bought Bruno's qualified car? I'm not sure and too lazy to look it up, but I believe that's what happened.

Gregg, get your pass in the mail yet?

David.

Bruno was Tagliani's team mate in 2009 when that happen, but I think it was a preplan deal that if Tag didn't make the 500 Bruno would give up his ride since Tag was the regular driver for that team.

Yeah you're right, now it's coming back to me. Wasn't it the King Tut sponsorship or something?
Someone should ask Donald Davidson if Bruno holds the record for qualifying but not starting, that's two now.
At least he got to start when he won the pole for Ganassi!
David.
