We will be there ....our 20 minute drive and sitting on the back side for 40 plus years now!

And your right, Tom don't cater to the BS. Don't matter what excuse that USAC or any one else has for him going back to Sunday nights on Labor Day, a deal was broke and it wasn't Tom breaking it.

Enjoy where ever you choose to go racing this weekend!

I predict a car count in the high 20's to mid 30's, with a very good high end. In the scenario that we're looking at with this weekend's races, I would guess Brady Short, Jeff Bland, Robert Ballou, Chris Windom, Nic Faas, Hunter Schurenberg, Ricky Williams, Kyle Cummins, Blake Fitzpatrick, Hud Cone (unless he has a SC ride), Chad Boespflug, Kurt Gross, Danny Holtsclaw, etc. And who knows, maybe a few of the guys from the previous night's Fireman's Nationals will make the tow. I heard some of them want to, whether the logistics of that work out or not, we'll just have to wait and see. Regardless, when you add that list of drivers to what Tommy and his crew does, then I don't think there's any doubt that it'll be a good show.

If Tom Helfrich is such a genius, why is he so ignorant to think he cannot work with the new management team at USAC? AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT management team than the one who allegedly broke this Labor Day deal.

Seems to me Tom's creating his own BS by holding this childish grudge.

If USAC had kept the Du Quoin race on Monday like it was for years and years people wouldn't be complaining about what Mr. Helfrich should or shouldn't do. Forget who's running what or when. I just pray Mother Nature let's us see anything on Sunday. Tom

With no less than four entities involved (USAC, ARCA, Track Enterprises, and the DuQuoin Fairgrounds) do you really think USAC is the one dictating to them how they schedule? If you want to continue to see races on the dirt mile, you better hope USAC never takes that hardline stance you seem to think they can, otherwise every single dirt mile just might be gone (Remember, they're all run by the same promoter now).

Given who the promoter is, I have a feeling ARCA dictated this date change so they could run two races on this weekend. Then again that doesn't help people push their anti-USAC agenda.

Tom,

I believe they originally changed the date to Sunday night so that some of the NASCAR drivers (Tony Stewart, Ken Schrader) would be available for the ARCA race. Back in the day when the USAC stocks ran on Sunday afternoon, I would hurry back to Haubstadt, then drive back to DuQuoin on Labor Day for the Champ cars. I did this for many years. I stopped going to the stock car race shortly after USAC dropped the division. I did go to the ARCA sanctioned race at least once when it was a 200 lapper. That was simply more than I could take, and apparently it was the same for most others as they soon went back to 100 miles.

I don't think that you have any clue to what is going on.
