...after a less then spectacular performance with the All Stars this season, Rod George approached the [U]pay out window[U] and said, "I apologize for that, what do I owe you ?"...classic !

One of my favorites came this year after Daron Clayton won the Gas City Sprintweek show in the Hoffman car. Richard Hoffman told Daron's dad, Gene, "I thought he was going to turn it over every lap." To which Gene replied, "Oh, you get used to it."

Paraphrase from Days of Thunder
"I want you to go out there and hit the pace car."
"Why?"
"It's the only thing on the race track you haven't hit."

Back in the late 70s there was a Saturday-Sunday doubleheader for the USAC sprints at Salem. Strangely enough :rolling: there was a party Saturday night. Sometime during the evening the following message was broadcast over the PA:
"The Tim Richmond wet T-shirt contest will begin a 11pm in turn 1..."

My favorite that was on a T-shirt at Limaland back in the 80's "faster and faster til the thrill of speed overcomes the fear of death" and one that I heard from Jim Weir (Scotty's dad) years ago when he was dominating local late models and finished second one night. "Second is just the first one to lose"
