I don't know of any pavement car owners in USAC that are racing for profit. I'm not saying it's the way it SHOULD be, but it seems to be the current state of affairs. I can't see an owner profiting unless it pays 10 grand to win and he wins them all.

Ok kirk are the dirt races paying $2500 to win? What does usac have to give to a promoter that he can't get for $1200 on a sat night??????? In my day we had the best sprint car driver in the usa! No 1/4 mile tracks! Indy 500 drivers big crowds racing coast to coast! Now its ind. Ohio series! Nobody is knocking down usac doors for a race! How can you do a race on a 5/8 mile for less then a 1/4????? Please tell me!
---------- Post added at 10:01 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:58 PM ---------- Honest sam! Then why do you have a purse! Just race your $60000 car for nothing? ---------- Post added at 10:20 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:58 PM ---------- Racefan 20 you have to think if you can (the photo fits you!) why would any promoter just tell usac they want to pay only $ 2500 to win?????????? Every one of you experts said it cost to much money to run pavement so now its ok to cut the purse! *** is wrong with you??????? |

---------- Post added at 10:20 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:58 PM ---------- Well, isn't that what's BEEN going on for years? Please read my previous post again. I said, I'm not sayin' it's RIGHT, but it's the current state of affairs. Does this mean that you disagree with my '10 grand to win' theory? I'm pretty sure that a lot of drivers get 50% for a win, so fielding a top flight, winning pavement sprint car for 9 races and 45k is rather difficult indeed. And that's assuming a 100% win ratio. With all of the things that eat a budget, I don't think there'd be much of a profit to show at the end of the pavement series even with more than twice the OLD purse. The folks that are payin' the bills are doing it because they love it. My opinion, not fact. Maybe there'll be some effective rule changes that'll make things a little better.
