Billy,
I'm not happy with the fact that you somehow put the wrong date of birth on your UMRA application your rookie season and broke a club rule. But unfortunately people break rules all the time. You were not the first driver to lie about his age and race while underage. But you are the first person I have come in contact with that got caught and then thought it was your right to continue to compete while breaking the rules. Look at what you just posted: "If i would of really wanted to race tq's all i would of had to do was go down to the court house get an injuction and had the races stopped untill they let me run." Why do you think you are above the rules of UMRA? You should just be happy that you got away with it for one season. Thank goodness you didn't run every race, or make enough points, to take Rookie of the Year away from Toby Welpott. In the long run not being able to compete with UMRA at the age of 15 had no effect on your life. You were going to move on eventually. You have had a successful racing career that I'm sure a lot of drivers would love to have. Winning the Lincoln Park and Gas City championships in 2007 and then repeating with those same championships last year are something to be proud of. And I am very happy that you have been able to accomplish what you have in your career. But, what happened in 1993 and 1994 has had a tremendous negative impact on UMRA. In hindsight maybe the best thing that could have happened at that membership meeting would have been for UMRA to lower the minimum driving age to 15. Sandy |
