Before my retirement I only had one co-worker I could talk racing with. It was hard to give him the respect I thought a Manager deserved since he was a friend first and former supermodified driver.

Since so many of you in this thread have referred to NASCAR, I want to share what has become a pet-peeve of mine this summer. When has it become the in thing to have your obituary read "NASCAR FAN"? I have lost count on the number of obituaries I have seen posted in The Palladium-Times the local Oswego, N.Y. paper stating "NASCAR FAN". It was alot! So, I found myself asking what is up with that? Oswego residents have the best supermodified track in the country within their city limits and their obituary reads "NASCAR FAN". Go figure!

At my last job I used to organize outtings to Lincoln Speedway and Williams Grove a couple times a year. I've introduced 20 + people to Sprint Car racing. I took an F1 fan from Scottland to the Grove once and he loved it He was an F1 snob that would not even watch any American racing until I had him stand in the infield of turn one at the Grove. He was amazed! Also had a couple guys from India that I took to Lincoln too. They had fun, but it wasn't their cup of tea! I got my boss an and another co-worker hooked on racing who never attended an event. Now we've been to races all over the country together.

Now because I go pit side so much I don't take new fans with me. I can't keep track of them and take photos at the same time.

It isn't just the Oswego paper, Patti. You'll see it here too. This, the home of several sprint car drivers, both past and present.

I gave up trying to get co-workers to go to a sprint car race. They would rather talk NASCAR racing if anything. In my office there are about 3 very casual fans, 1 of whom is from Bedford originally. Huge Kinser fan, but seldom goes to any race.

Kentucky-Is brain washed with late models and nascar. It gets %$#@ frustrating trying to find anybody to go with me to any sprint car race. It Sucks! I would much rather go to a sprint car show winged or wingless rather Than to a late model or cup show anyday.

While at one of my jobs the other day, someone said , "when they race, why dont' they go left also?"

I am not into NASCAR and any other racing as much as I used to, actually hardly at all, but knew there are road courses they race at. I just found it sorta funny.

LMAO! That's exactly the way it is here in Minnesota!! One girl here at work was a Sprint Car fan but she quit & found a better job. Maybe I should do that! I do have a photo of my kid in his Sprinter in my wallet, so that I can explain the difference between SPRINT CARS :thumb and SPRINT CUP  !
