I do believe it's a Detroit Diesel engine in it, one of the highlights of the night was hearing it coming down the straight!

That was my guess. It was kinda cool, but, as I said, it is noisy. Would hate to drive that thing on the road very far, unless the cab has really good sound deadening insulation.
1998 was the last year of the good dirt there. Gerry Olsen brought in what he considered an improvement. Turns out to be one of the worst in the Midwest.

That track has always been bad about dust, even way back in the day the old videos show nothing but a cloud of dust on the initial green flag...just needs to be dealt with each race....never turn them loose until they blow the track off...it's a great place, always loved it...wish it was a little better...
