Bill you have all these answers to fix our sport. Why dont you start DAD's fix all mini, midget, DD2 no muff to tough club? Problem solved

You just might have a good idea. If I could come up with a good crew I might buy one of those groups. I would have to talk Doug into retiring, because as I have said to own a group and to race in it your self or have family racing is not a good idea. That does however sound kinda of neat.
You on the other hand are already helping to run a group of racers and have your own website
http://midwestlightningsprints.freeforums.org/ It appears to need a bit of work put into it. The readership and posts and responses seem to be a bit low. You should work on that a little more. Looked pretty good a few months ago, but things sometimes do fall off.
Maybe you need to spend a little more time over there building it up.
Old motors are available but as Andy said they have a bunch of miles on them. I guess the zx10r was a great motor when you bought yours and it was probably the best thing out there in your opinion. Well all most things evolve. Your Lightning Sprints started out as "MINI-SPRINTS". There were powered by old motorcycle engines from 500cc up to 1200cc and may be a few snow mobile motors thrown in there for good measure. Today we call them "BOAT ANCHORS" That is because we have evolved.
Now if somebody doesn't like the newer motors they come up with a real neat rule (nobody has ever done this before) that states the only engine allowed must be at least 2 years old to race in our group. These darned things do not have a date of mfg. stamped on the cylinder block, so you got to guess what year it is. The mfgs also build them in series or Generations lasting from 2 to about 4 years in length.
What this rule really means is that the only way to get a low mile motor we must buy the new motor when it comes out with low miles on it and keep it in dry dock for 2 years until it becomes legal.
Now that is a cost saver.
Mini wants to try a BMW that's great. I want to try a newer Kaw. that's great. I might want to follow in the steps of the FLORIDA GUY's and try an Echotec, thats great. Andy wants to try an ENGLER he does not care about what motor he puts it on but he wants to try an Engler. That's great
.
Some racers sits around with a chromed up decaled up no go show boat. That stuff is his deal also and that is great. You can't race these things on food stamps that is unless we have a lucrative non taxable business going on down on the corner.
The deal some people have with decals I may have with dry sumps and Andy may have with Engler fuel injections, SO.
We all stated we wanted stock internals, well I put forth a little effort and said yeh with this stuff here we can enforce this rule with very little time spent after the race in the tec chute. And instead of a hundred dollar piece of aluminum with a dial indicator in it' I use a $35.00 Harbor freight 12" caliper. Then somebody harps in about doing research in cc's and ptv measurements.
Several of my suggestions have somehow found a home in tec procedures as long as the powers that be can think that they were actually there ideas all along. That's great.
I am putting forth suggestions. You can read them and agree with them or not agree them, like Andy said "Frankly my dear I don't give a tinkers Darned".
Nothing like a good foil to keep things going and we are sure doing that aren't we. I just kinda of hope a little of this stuff does sink in.
Be prepared to EVOLVE

Then Mark come up with "Well those 2011 zx10r's and BMW's have too much horsepower!! Well young man times are a changin.
