One thing you guys forget about Vernon is that DA still owns it. That would add another degree of difficulty. You don't wanna dump a lot of money in a track unless you want to eventually purchase it.

In my opinion it would be great if you could bring a track back from the dead. Reopen one of the many unused tracks, and give racers a new place to run.

Your correct HotShoe65s. If I took over a track that could not own, the improvements would be basically for safety. To Fan, Driver and Crews.

Ambrose1, great to heard from ya! I wasin touch with Scottsburg last year. Not sure they want every week races. Track needs work but can be done.

Vermillion County speedway right across the border in IL. would be a nice place to open back up again, maybe with the track not running this year the fair board might be more willing to work something out with a new promoter. You can run non wing sprints and the other classes on friday nights this was done a few years back was getting a lot of cars to show up for racing just make it nice and tacky you will have great racing there.Good luck on your new adventure and keep us informed on here how it is going and where you end up starting at.

yes there is a nice track at scottsburg, it is a 3/8. nice facility the fair board just installed brand new sound system. and has put a brand new announcer booth in atop the grandstands. todd richey takes very good care of the grounds. and yes tammie caudill and her husband scott tried the track out but due to family issues had to close down. they ran stock cars, late models, and several other classes and almost always had a good showing of cars. the ilms cars run there every fair in july along with vintage sprints pretty much a great track for all classes.

Sprint63122, You are totaly correct. I haven't been there since the late 80's. It was nice ten, and I heard it hasn't changed. It doesn't need alot of work, but TLC. I will be looking into it. Thanks for your support. Tim

Charleston Speedway in Charleston, IL is for sale. Needs gradually built up, and I think would attract plenty of Sprints not being too far away from indiana border.

I think if you asked a promoter that's dealt with a fair board many would probably tell you to stay away from fairgrounds tracks.
Angola Motor Speedway is being leased year to year. Put dirt on it, bring some of the non-wing guys a little further north and also find a way to draw some of the winged sprint cars from the north and east for some specials.
