whats wrong with the ( non qualifier ) race ,those guys paid to race just like the rest
if it wasn't for that , they would just load up and go home.
after the 1st 10 or 12 cars qual.the track was junk

DICNJAN, you don't understand the top post here. It's a long running complaint that the non qualifier is a loser. They need and some people would like to see C & B mains run and everyone would still get to race.

You don't get it. In real short track racing, if there's enough cars, you run 5 or more heats, you run a C-Main, a D-Main and so on.

DICNJAN, I guess you like seeing some cars only make 10 competitive laps.

This is just a guess but I would say Dick & Jan Breedlove have forgot more races than most of us have seen. The time they spent in H.A.R.F. alone is more than most of the drivers ages. Like the rest of us they have an opinion, with there time dedicated to make this deal a little better I for one respect there opinion.

Like it or not that is my opinion.

The USAC format is a car count killer. It's the biggest reason that Indiana Sprint Week car counts have declined so much.

USAC did increase the number of cars to the program a couple years ago. ITS RARE they get the kind of count to have to run a NQ anymore. I think they increased the laps too.

BTW, BEST DAMN RACE OF THE NIGHT, Tmez from last to fourth after problems early

Yeah, some guys had to load up but I feel I saw a very full night of racing

In the old days they just took the top 18 qualifyers and everyone else loaded up......................

I know there has been a long time debate on the non qualifier race. But I don’t understand the difference if a guy runs a non qualifier race, finishes in the top 8, moves on to a heat race and then the B, if he doesn’t transfer to the A, versus running a heat, not making it to the B lets say and goes to the C. He doesn’t transfer and still goes home. I know some of your points, is that everyone should run a heat. I may get hammered here but I disagree. Does anyone remember when NAMARS was around and when they had the Indiana 5 Crown? I can remember specifically a race at Gas City that got cut short. The reason? They started everyone in heats and there were guys starting throughout the field that did not belong in the front rows of heat races. One heat took over 30 minutes. I know other sanctioning bodies do it, but I don’t think with the caliber of cars that show up at USAC races, that it’s a good idea. I believe it would cause more carnage. Guys would be driving that much harder for 3 positions that would cause accidents. The fast guys would be lapping cars in 2 laps in a heat race. I know the track had a lot to do with qualifying times, but there was a 2 second difference between fast time and the last few qualifiers. Its great that everyone shows up at a USAC show and everyone deserves the right to show up there and have an opportunity to race. But I think you would see the events take longer and more cars tore up. I also don’t believe that when you are running for a National Championship that its fair to alter the format one night to the next based on car count. Although our formats do get changed, i.e. Osky, Knoxville, PAS to name a few. And I don’t agree with that. Please don’t take this that I am knocking anybody. I respect any person that climbs in one of these cars and works their buts off to do what we all love. Okay, have at it with me
