I guess that means Derek is volunteering to do updates next Saturday night. Remember Derek this is real time not 3 hours later after you have a chance to go to the track and get the official results. Have fun dude!

I am so glad you responded... Do you really want to bring up "real time"? I score the top 5 or 6 every lap and take notes simultaneously. That's about as "real time" as it gets, wouldn't you agree? There was no "3 hours later." I was asleep three hours later. BP biked it hard on lap one, backed up from there and he was relegated to mid-pack. I made note of that, along with every other pertinent thing, in "real time."

The lead lap cars, Grant's lap time, those came from the track.

My note-taking doesn't allow time for me to do updates other than a stray text here or there, sorry to disappoint you. Still waiting on you to come and say hello, by the way.

PS - Not a jab at BP in this post anywhere, he runs great at Kokomo and I have been hoping he could stay within shouting distance of the points lead.

Derek,

Billy took a hit in the points race last night. Next Saturday will be a decision of either Lincoln Park or Kokomo for Billy. I believe both tracks are points races so does he risk his 130 or so points lead at Lincoln Park to try and not fall farther behind at Kokomo?

Good question. Can't speak for Billy, maybe he'll see this and post his plans but going into last night Whitt sat at 802 points, Cottle at 772 and BP at 757. Shane finished five spots behind Billy but we all know what Whitt did, so I'm assuming that unless Cole has some really bad luck either Saturday or during the Labor Day weekend show, he's pretty much got the title locked up.

Whitt's really stretched this thing out, it was just two weeks ago that he, BP, Cottle and Stanbrough were under a blanket in the points race. And to think, back in the Lipkey days we missed out on this kind of drama! Feature wins only back then.

You are absolutely correct. What a great show and many people will look at "only" 21 cars in house and say it can't be that good of a show. It is difficult at times to see everything that is going on at Kokomo. Battles all over the place and cars using all of the racetrack. You hate to take your eyes off of the leaders but then you miss the action back in the pack. I enjoy any race that I attend, but Kokomo is by far the best weekly racing right now. After an hour drive home, I still have a tough time going to sleep just thinking about what just happened.

Ummm the race ended a little before 10 and you posted at 12:50 AM thats 2:50 pretty close to 3 hours by my calculations. The difference between your notes and our updates is mine is out there for all to see(and correct after the fact), yours are never seen by anyone but you. Go ahead, try it next week, do something for the rest of the racing community. See how much easier it is to sit back and criticize than it is to do the updates and help those who cant be there. if you need someone to call and post to PM me I will find someone. Man up, show us that you can do it better. BTW I told you I wouldnt know you from Adam so if you recognize me come introduce yourself, I dont bite(but if you do it at the motorhame Jade might want a piece of your leg if you dont bring her part of a pork chop sandwich)

If you want to piss around with minutiae and what time I posted something, then I can play that game: I stayed for all the features, talked to Bowman for awhile and made the 20-minute drive to my house. Got home, ate some food and hopped onto facebook and email, and then to here. At any rate, the point is that there was no assist from any score sheets, only myself paying attention. Do you really want to argue the point with me that I don't know a lapped car when I see one?

My notes are put to good use and seen by many every week in my stories. I think that's "doing something for the racing community." Anybody's updates, yours included, are helpful to people who can't make it. I never said a cross word about updates, but now that I think of it not all your updates are "correct after the fact." You had Hendrick second in the heat when it was clearly Spencer finishing second to Gulick in heat one. I only criticized your BP oversight because you love to jump on anything I say and try to discount me like I don't know what the f&$* I'm talking about after 27 years at the races.

Are there any other fallacies you'd like to post for me to shoot down with facts?

Thats great Chris, you win. So where can we read this great journalisim that you create Derek? BTW I'm not trying to get in a pizzing contest here. You made a remark first about the accuracy of the updates and i just want to see how well you can do it. My guess is there is more people reading the updates than your articles, maybe not but it doesnt really matter. With that I'm done with this I need to get some work done. If you need someone to call your updates into on Saturday let me know I'm sure I can find someone for you.
