Susannah,
I was there that day Pancho took the orange #77 over the first turn wall during the Vigo County Fair in 1973. He came to a stop near one of the carnival rides. Pancho had a flat tire and was roaring through the field when he jumped over the cushion and away he went. Johnny Parsons -- driving a white #52, I believe -- also flipped during the same feature, running over a tire which came off another car on the backstretch.

Pancho raced later that year in a dark blue #77. I remember Pancho sliding sideways out of turn four under the old walk bridge at Salem in that car. Still can see it as clear as day.

That dark blue #77 was also the car Jan Opperman drove for The Bopper at Salem for the Frostbite 50 in late October or early November of that year. As far as I know, that was the first time Opperman drove on pavement. Definitely his first time on a paved high bank.
I was a Duane "Pancho" Carter Jr., fan and bought a new dark blue Monte Carlo to match it.

But to his defense, he has had some really good looking race cars too! Just to prove it, here is his newest creation, the Diabetes Challenge Two Seater sprint car. This is his first of 5 and I think this is quite a good looking car! Hopefully you will too.
The other 4 will be primer grey though, right Susannah. lol
