I would like to take a guess on this...lol. I guess from the photographs of the car that this tank is about 27 inches wide, by about 16 inches deep and maybe
16 inches tall. That is about.....3.52 cubic feet. Using a google calulator
this is about 26.26 gallons, so I would say the tank is about 28 gallons which is a standard size for a midget fuel tanks.

Happy New Year. Am I right/close?

Sincerely,

Larry Otani:checkered:

I have attached a photo of "Higgy's Piggy" here. I invited Bob Higman to be our Grand Marshal of the Thursday, August 2007 Midget Week date I promoted at Kamp Motor Speedway. Bob lives just down the road outside Lafayette.

IMHO the advantage is to move the weight of the fuel further forward. It has more weight directly over the rear end. But to me the biggest advantage is it being more forward the car will get more side bite because the weight of the fuel is further forward making the car not want to sling around as much with a full load of fuel. Also the car is made shorter with that tank and bumper making it easier to slice through traffic. But the main advantage to me is moving that weight.

Sorry, forgot I was on a message board and needed to be explicitly clear with the common sense.
Why start now? You will make the rest of us feel like we should do that too. Talk about a guilt trip :O:

Mike Miller out of PA has/had a midget with a very similar front end on it. I remember seeing it in the Chili Bowl pics from 2005 and seeing it run at Knoxville that same year.

Yes the down tubes need to come off.

FYI the tailtank on Sammy's car is the work of Spike Chassis's John Godfrey.

Now that's not to say it is suppose to be taking attention away from something else but alot of people forget Sammy has an engineering degree and has invented several items for racing. A few have been banned in the past for being too out of the ordinary.

Sammy attended college to study engineering, but I don't think he ever received a degree. He was making too much money winning races. That's what I remember from the story I did on him nine years ago.

Floyd Roberts, who won the 1938 Indy 500, had an engineering degree.
