Speaking of good places to eat in SoCal try Paradise Cove in Malibu if a beach dining experience fits your fancy. It sets right on the ocean side of Pacific Coast Highway and it is right on the beach. A beautiful place with some great atmosphere and you can sit at an outdoor table with your feet in the sand overlooking the Pacific Ocean. We stopped at Paradise Cove purely by chance on our way from the Queen Mary in Long Beach to Ventura Raceway for opening night in March of 2012.

Very cool place to eat and the food is very good as well.

Silver Crown Championship Dirt Cars properly driven on a one mile dirt track are classic poetry in motion. Using that analogy, Jack Hewitt is one of the greatest poets of all time.

Should we rename this "the food critic thread"?
Really, thanks for all the advice, might keep my eye open for those places, but the way traffic is in So Cal, I'll be looking at places conveniently located, doubt if I'll be driving around looking for restaurants. Denver traffic drives me up the wall bad enough!
Anybody else going?
