I have learned to appreciate Bob a long time ago. I enjoy our debates, he is very knowledgeable and tends to think outside the box. You don't do too bad of a job yourself. I see you started at the first of the post dated back to December 2013. The response was made to another debater on IOW by the name of Jim Jones. Rick Hench had asked a question about racing the then new BMW 1000rr motor in Mini Sprints. He had met a lot of push back because of Magazine write ups about its power.
Since the invention Mini sprints have always relied on what once was perceived as a never ending supply of very fast and always improving supply of bike motors. It was assumed that the newer motors would always have more power than the older ones and as the older motors bit the dust we simply replaced them with newer and more powerful late model motors. Well BMW came out with a motor described as having much more power than the other motors and created fire storm of concern about a perceived advantage it would have. The average cost of a 1000cc motor back then was $1500.00 to $2000.00. The BMW started out at about $3500.00 on Ebay.
The remark I made was about the two different philosophy's between the TQ racer and Mini Sprint racers. I am not even supposed to say Mini Sprint anymore because it is not Politically correct. We are supposed to use stock off of the bike motors with very little modifications of any kind to the motor. You guys chose to use a motor more or less dictated to be a 750 Honda with very extensive modifications done to the motor, thus my remark then what do you have a TQ.
The cars have tended to grow to be very much alike. When on a race track the crowd can't tell the difference between a Midget, a TQ Midget, or a Mini Sprint. In fact Terry and Bill May of MMSA had a Mini Sprint TQ shootout several years ago at Madison Indiana and their wasn't anybody sitting down to watch that feature race...The best way to describe it was awesome.
Our purses are in fact very similar to one another and are very similar to any other support group out there racing>>>It pays what it pays. Competition will dictate the purse the group putting on the best show will be able to negotiate for the better purse.
Competition and discushion is how we improve, lets keep it on a friendly basis Bob has moved up to the wheel house and I am thinking about moving from dog fighting to chicken fighting. I guess that puts Bob on top of things?
By the way Rick Hench seems to have dropped the BMW and moved on to the zx10r engine>>>but you never know if something will work if you never tried to make it work.
It would be neat if we could get another shoot out race put together at a little Bull Ring somewhere.
