I don't think Andy had a nick name.

Ralph passed away many years ago, I think. His son Dale runs a business in louisville. Ralph was a pretty good builder and driver backIin the day. I think it was his last car he was going to let RW Noel get some sprint car experience at Lawrenceburg. Rw told me and I drove to Lawrenceburg ky to watch him. Well they werent there so I race over to Lawrenceburg In and got there just in time to see RW flip out turn # 3 almost into the pits. I don't think he raced after that.

I think this was in about 1975 or 76.

"Copper Cat"... Bill and Marie Clary...Clary Customotive... Ralph was of no relation... Price Baird worked for Bill and had restored at the time of his passing Wayne McGuires Pontiac powered modified... Randy Baker at Hoosier Parts , was Heavy Brooks` stepson who dam= near lost both legs when a harmonic balancer exploded while he stood straddle of it rappin`the throttle... Must have been a hel* of a lot more races back then... Calvin was one of my Dad`s best friends and as a kid I was devastated that one of my invincible "Superman" heroes was gone... Big Bob is one of the funniest cat`s you will ever meet... Wish we could still race like those guys got to do it...
You know when you are a kid you see things different. I can still remember the way those guys back then raced. They seemed always to be out for a good time jokeing around with one another drin*ing and raising heck like there was no tomorrow. If they had a problem it could quickly be resolved in the parking lot, and then they were back to being friends again. I guess it was because they had survived WWII or what ever but time were better back then, they saw life and racing in a different way. Now days even in the lower classes it is strictly racing and we dont have time for anything but racing and it sure is a shame. (This is how a 10 year old kid saw racing back then.)

Races like "Fun Fest" at Brownstown and I hope "The Rumble" in Ft. Wayne is as close as we will ever get to those races again.

Tony do you think could put a boxing ring out in the parking lot?
