First of all I want to thank Professor Sullivan for his insight on what this thread has been discussing.

I have XM radio with the package that includes the NASCAR channel. For the last few weeks they have been talking about Danica and her opportunities to go NASCAR. But they went onto say that she ought to think twice because her IRL friends have struggled like Franchetti and Patrick (Carpenter) and also the time it took Sam and Montoya to finally run well. What they forgot to mention that there are a host of open wheel drivers who set the world on fire almost from the get go... Stewart, Gordon, Newman. And let's not forget John Andretti who has a few wins along with my favorite even though he had some stock racing in him... Kenny Schrader. All of these guys were USAC champs and Stewart won the IRL title in 97. If she has what it takes and lands with a good team, only then will we see if she can stand along side those dudes above. And to be honest, I hope so.

I sat next to Stewart in 1995 at the HARF banquet when I won a little track championship and he had his three HARF USAC plaques. We had a great talk and reminded each other the days of racing slot cars in Blake Hollingsworth's basement. During those days he called me "Gentleman George." And even though he has had his moments, I think the last two years he has really matured and sees the big picture. I think with him seeing the big picture and not the day ahead has totally changed his attitude.

It was great to hear he won Saturday. I went to bed early, so I missed the fiasco at the end. I hope one day Kyle begins to see the big picture. That will be the day when he starts to win championships and not so focused on that single race day. Sorry, I kind of got off topic... But I look forward to seeing the rest of the year unfold for Tony and his team. He's making guys like Dave Darland and John S. look good as far as I'm concerned.
