Years ago at a speedway motorcycle race in Georgia he loved it and swore he'd love to try it except that contract stipulations kept him from riding.
So theres something he can prove, That he doesn't need roll cages and seat belts to go fast.

The only stupid posts are the ones that include a personal attack. I hate wings and pavement races, big deal. Since when do I have to love all racing even if its boring to me ?

p.s. the everyone else, especially Rhody is stupid club is now officially open. lol.

Unfortunately, Indiana and California are the only two places that got the memo. Sprint car hotbeds in Ohio and Pennsylvania stuck with the wings and to be honest, there are many fans nationwide that have never seen a sprint without the wing. Sprint car fans can argue all they want about wing versus non wing, and while they do, the late models have come in taken a large portion of the television revenue and an even larger portion of the purses. Take Eldora for example... before Tony took over, you used to be able to read on the front stretch inside wall "home of the sprint". Could you actually claim that now? The World 100 is basically equal to the Kings Royal in Purse money, and the late models still have the Dream. Take a look at the money won to date for the season in the Lucas Oil LM Series. When you compare it to what our heros are racing for in USAC Non Wing Sprints, it will make you sick. We all love the Smackdown and Sprintweek and we should appreciate what we have while we have it.
I don't think late model racing is popular because some people like non-winged racing over winged racing or vice versa.

From what I've seen, the 2 fan bases are pretty different. Late model fans tend to "chew", wear Nascar hats and have a bias toward all sprint car racing. Totally stereotypical I know, but accurate to a point.

As far as purses, the Outlaw sprints race for over $5M this year, which is more than either LM series. And any TV the late models get is Lucas Oil funded, through MAV TV or the occasional CBS race. None of that is moving the needle, if it was, ASCS would be the biggest sprint car sanctioning body by far.

This is so wrong that its almost insulting. Yea, some country boys chew but seems to be a dying trend and you don't see it represented at Late Model races anymore versus other type of dirt racing events.
I've seen NASCAR stuff being worn at all kinds of dirt events (Anymore I am a part of that; either Larson shirt or event shirt is what you'll usually see me in), but most fans will have a driver shirt or a dirt event shirt on at Late Model races.

I do agree that the bases are pretty different generally speaking but do not agree that your assertion is true of Late Model crowds; any more than any Sprint crowd. What they both have in common it seems is they like beer.

As someone who likes to stay sober and enjoy the event, the winged sprint fans seem to be the biggest beer drinkers and the most annoying when drunk... well outside of NASCAR only fans. Those folks are real a$#h0!#$ a lot of the time.

He might as well, with only four still in existence and three running races, he could corner the market and not have to worry about being at the mercy of a F#"*':_; fair board!

I believe that is the main issue with the Indy Mile! The Fair Board is the reason that the Hulman Hundred isn't around anymore and the reason they can't even reschedule the Hoosier Hundred when it gets Rained Out!

He was the 14th car in that race. My recollection is that he just petered around the back never really trying to pass any cars. The fans just appreciated him helping MSCS put on a good race. I forgot who won. Ballou?
