I was there almost to the end. 3 am big show 410's ended. if you didn't camp you probably left. sorry 305 wings had to nest. Marathon, good crowd, great place mostly, Too many cars to run plus a make up feature. Eldora take note at running allstars with USAC on Saturday 4 crowns ? again.

I know this Chuck that is next year. I'm just saying that everyone want's it to be big time & it seems they have the smaller budget guy's in mind for what they are doing. Some are also saying that the bigger purse the lower car count. Well have the payout adjusted to no start money in the A, last would pay 2,500. Everything I've mentioned here & other post is or has been said in this thread. I'm providing somewhat of an answer.

My belief is if it goes to a WOO sanction it will lose its luster & do you think for a minute that if this race this past Saturday would have had 63 cars if the WOO or All Stars name attached. I doubt it very much.

I agree. IMHO the Kings Royal and Knox Nationals suffered when they became WoO sanctioned.

The nationals first went with a WoO sanction in 1978. It has went downhill since then? Kings Royal had a big purse increase last year. (pretty much for the first time) Had the biggest crowd ever this year. Where is the suffering?

Maybe not from fans but car counts & as long as the fans come & the purse is paid, Status Quo.

Not to put down a big car count but if only 25 badass sprint cars showed up you'd still have an awesome show. I'll take quality over quantity any day. Don't get me wrong, I'm not against large car counts I just don't think they're necessary for great racing.

I would still rather see a Mark Smith, Caleb Helms, Caleb Armstrong. Jimmy Seger or the like take that 100 grand.

Didn't Terry McCarl have a race on Tuesday at Oskaloosa. If memory serves correct that went to a sanction & counts went down & now he don't have a show.

T Mac does still have a show on the Monday before Knoxville in Oskaloosa IA. Unsanctioned and pays $20k to win. Does get some outlaw guys. I've never been but hear they typically get big crowds. Shane Stewart won this year.

As for this Mansfield race does anyone know if there will be a ppv? I'd order it whether it is a woo show or unsanctioned

If my memory is correct I believe there were 58 cars at the WoO sanctioned race at Attica this year and a similar number st the ASCOC speedweek show at atomic and neither race paid anywhere near 100k.

Explain... I don't believe neither race has changed their format to suit the sanctioning body, both purses have increased and you are garaunteed to get the biggest names. Are there as many cars? Maybe not if you only look at car count but the overall quality of the field has increased.
