Again, I think its a good move. The New Gen cars really were going Nowhere.....Fast..... Also, TJ is right, but again how can you expect to gain fans, even Sprint Car Fans, if you insist that these cars only race on mile tracks.... Get them on some of the 3/8ths Dirt Tracks and get them in front of Fans... They don;t have to run 100 laps every race. If you get them to a Track like Terre Haute for a 30 lap feature and keep the purse down, you can book races.... Rebuild your dirt Fans and they will soon follow you to the Pavement.... If your cars arent suited to a type of track, then you need to work on them and do the Best you can. Don;t Reject Racing in front of and New Fan base because you don;t think your car suits a track....... Thats pure nonsense.... And I just don;t get how you think these cars will ever race at the same venues as IRL cars..... Do you think Tony George will scrap his own support series if favor of yours.... or has he already? If that happens, USAC really will be on there way to being the Sanction Body for INDY again..... I would love to see it...... but I aint holden my breath..... Right or wrong, it has stired a lot of interest here.... hopefully that will be seen in the Stands as well.......

Running the Big Cars on tracks smaller than 1/2 mile just isn't practical. These cars need elbow room to put on a first rate show.

As far as running at the IRL tracks, they already do (Richmond, Iowa) and have regularly in the past (Milwaukee). The new gen cars were supposed to run at bigger tracks like Kentucky and Nashville.

TG would not have to drop his Infiniti Pro Series. There is no reason that two races couldn't be run prior to the IRL event. After all, at Richmond, the USAC sprint cars run Friday night and the SC runs late Saturday afternoon prior to the IRL event (of course, this is where SC misses the exposure because it is usually hotter than stink and most of the fans are still in the parking lot tailgating).

Patti, great to hear Oswego wants in. Keeping the IRL tie-in, the best weekend would be when IRL is at the Glen.

But, you raise the spectre of the biggest ***** cards: purse size/sanctioning fees, and travel expenses. I believe this takes us full circle back to why the new gen cars were brought about. Venues were dropping them because there weren't enough paying butts in the seats (although I disagree with TJ that most of the message board complainers didn't support the series; on the contrary, I think most of us on the boards that cared enough to discuss the series were attending the events; but we are of a small number).

You could help the promoter and lower the sanction fee (which would probably mean a lower purse and lower car count; not good) or you can try to expand to the markets where money flows (as in NASCAR venues and crowds) to try and win new fans.

The sad reality is that the SC series might not be economically feasible to exist anymore. It's the old laws of Supply and Demand. But you can only drop your price so much in the effort of boosting demand.

Personally, as much as I'd love to see the SC at all of these new tracks, I think they would be best off staying in the Indiana region and becoming something that people will want to go and see. That's where the cars are and that's where the best fan base is. And who says they have to run at tracks only once a year? Run twice a year. Run two day shows. I know a lot of IOW faithful won't like this, but run with another top series. On pavement, Hooters/ASA/CRA. On dirt, there are a huge number of great dirt late model sanctions. These other series will bring in new fans.

Again, it's a challenge and I will be interested to see where this goes. At least they are doing something about it.

Well said Alkymadness, my biggest fear is the SC owners will say enough is enough, leave their cars parked and this will be the end of the SC division.

I am a little surprised that there aren't many new gen car owners on here stating how they feel about it.

I am NOT calling them out NOR am I trying to start something but I would like to hear their opinions on this change in USAC policy.

Has anyone seen if the 2008 rule book has been changed? The 2008 rules state a requirement for the front airdam a side pods on the pavement cars. Since the New Gen cars are being removed for the short term future has the rule book reflected this change?

I stil think Martinsville would put on a great race with the Silver Crown cars. Maybe a joint supermodified/Silver Crown race could be scheduled there.

Not to digress, but I have always wanted to see the IRL go there and put on a race. Would be a great thing to have the IRL and the Silver Crown race there on a seekend.

My guess would be a speed issue. Didn't the cars carry alot of speed into the corners there?

Maybe it is a logistics issue for the teams. Where else is USAC racing in that area?

Maybe USAC wants to get the series aligned with the IRL so in the event of a merger they have the USAC cars on tracks with merged rear engine open wheel car series races?

Dirtywhiteboy, there are not many new gen car owners on here commenting on this because there's only maybe 10-12 total. That is the whole reason for the change. IRL at Martinsville, c'mon have you ever been there? I have and I am sorry but that track stinks. There is virtually no passing at all even in a 500 lap NAPCAR race. For cars to put on a good race it requires at least two full racing grooves. And Martinsville does not have that, it barely has one groove.
