As a midget car owner nothing about this series looks appealing. Low payout and I have to buy special tires. No thanks. Certainly midget racing has its share of problems but this new series doesn't address any of them. I think its particularly arrogant to schedule against the Hut Hundred.

Like I said we are not for everyone and we wish you all the best. But I will follow buy saying that out of the 42 calls and emails you are the first negative comment that has been made. But I have also explained our reasons and our plan in an earlier post and as always I thank you for your interest and comments.

Here is what is good about this series:

1.There hasn't been one promoter in the Midwest since 16th Street and NAMARS (around 2000) that has stepped forward and is willing to promote midget racing. This promoter is willing to do that.

2. The series is in it's infancy right now. Please give it a chance to develop.

3. The series is not meant to compete with the high dollar orgs. The races will be run in Indiana, several hundred miles from most shows. As far as the Hut goes, that race is not for everybody. There will be owners that will choose not to run that specialty race. Much better to have guys racing midgets somewhere than sitting at home.

4. The SP4 or American Racer similar is designed to level the playing field and to bring in car/engines that have stepped aside over the last several years. You will have a choice of tire brands and I am told that tires will be sold at a discount. You will be able to run that hard tire for more than one race, probably several.

5. Aside from first and second place money, you stand a better chance of taking home more cash per race than a POWRi race purse.

On the left is the AMCT purse for Montpelier. The Scottsburg race is offering even more purse money with $1200 ro win, 225 to start. On the right is the published purse for POWRi races.

1. 1000 2000
2. 700 1000
3. 600 600
4. 500 500
5. 450 400
6. 400 325
7. 375 300
8. 325 275
9. 300 250
10. 275 230
11. 250 225
12. 225 220
13. 200 200

$100 tow money for AMCT. $50 tow money for POWRi.

There is no membership fee that I know of to race with AMCT.

These are just a few of the good things about this series. Please give it a chance to develop.

Let me first say, I don't have a dog in this fight, sort of not, I do have 2 midgets tho, a vintage, and a TQ. As I recall, this is the same line of thinking, that did NAMARS in, and as far as "special tires", you do need tires don't you, no matter who you run with, and I, for one, would rather run my equipment, than try to sell it, in this economy, I don't like "spec" tire rules of any kind, just as I don't like to run a "sealed" motor, but I don't feel like this new organization is doing anything but trying to give the midget owners, a place to run what they have, and be paid at least something for that effort, I feel like if I can put my car back in the trailer on all 4 wheels, and at least pay for my trip there and back, I'm rich, or at least not as deep in the hole as I would be, if I just made the trip there and back, and got nothing, to me, something is almost always better than nothing. I am getting ready to put the rules sheet together for the Midgets and I have to ask. Are we sure that the Mini Sprints "DO NOT" need a tire rule or a weight rule? It's totally up to you "the competitors". I also need input on a weight rule of 850lbs for the VW's. The reason why I ask is because I have been asked by a few VW owners if I could bring it up. So I said that I would ask all of you and we would do whatever the majority wants.

I vote for no weight rule or tire rule for the mini sprint 1000/1200. Also no weight rule or tire rule for VW/Chevy II/OLD Sesco's (not the new ones!!)/Quad 4's.

Yes leave the mini open weight and tires.

A good 1000cc on Alky will make 180HP and most guys can’t get down below 950# give or take. So what are these old midget motor likely to produce? Over 300HP? So open tires and 100# is going to make up for over 120HP plus difference. I don’t think so. To draw in the mini for car count I think if you keep it open tires and weight you will get a fair amount of us. If you expect us to go head to head with a midget you will lose a fair many of us. If it does not look like it is working out down the road you can always change the rule but give it a chance. If it was my series I would try to get as many cars as I can to race to show the tracks this is a series you want to stop by to sell seats.

I think on the smaller tracks like Montpelier mini sprints will be pretty equal with the midgets and you won't really be able to tell the difference in the top cars.
