OMG Marv, did you have a bad breakfast @BE this morning or what?

I was young as well. I remember Dick Gaines with his wide shoulders outside the cage. Sheldon was tall and most of them cars didn't have all the consideration for driver possition or car and seat built for them like today. The jumped in and drove em. Before my time was the cageless guys and the leather saddle seat belts. WOW

As far as your son being a announcer, have you ever asked if he could help announce the line up one night?
I am sure we would love to have him get on the mic. He has dreams just like others. Sure we can't have him announcing all night long, but we will give him a chance to live his dream. Each situation is different, in every type of situation. I deal with them the best i can and thats all i can do. The JR Flagman as i like to call him, is fine with what he is doing and i will continue to support him.
Thanks for your time, Dave
WOW, you were alot more polite than I would have been....

I think it's awesome this kid is taking lap times. Perhaps he'll be on here in 2020, 2030 or 2040 digging out results from the good old days of the late 00s and early 10's and posting them on here.

I'm reminded of the time back in the early or perhaps mid 90's that a, shall we say, crotchety relative of mine b-tched about having to step over kids playing with Hot Wheels in the dirt walkway behind the backstretch stands at Godfrey. I told him "Hey, you never know, one of those kids just might be the 2020 Late Model track champion out
here." Well, unfortunately, no one will be winning any more championships at Godfrey. But those kids are now in their 20's. I wonder if any of them might be racing now?

We can only hope to be so lucky if this Jr. flagger maintains his pasion for the sport, and 50, 60, or maybe even 70 years from now he's being inducted into some racing Hall of Fame as a contributor.

Yep Furb (my stepson) made his own flags and everything. I didn't hear ONE bad thing said about him flagging in the stands. Actually, before the races started, they would take him up in the tower and he would talk to the flagman, announcer and score keeper. They loved him. Now he works on Late Models .

He surely didn't get hit with a clump of MUD, in Central PA

I'm going to the pits with you should Chuck show up selling 50-50 tickets. :2:

The young man flagging doesn't distract me nearly as much as the 50-50 ladies. All do a fine job.

Marv,

I am starting to get worried about you. Chuck certainly wouldn't be confused with the other 50-50 girls but as long as he stayed down in Section H it probably wouldn't cause too much of a problem. He will have to do something with that hair though!

Joining this late but I sit usually in section G with Chuck and the kid right in front of us flagging. I've noticed on more than one occasion that the kid had the yellow ready before the flagman knew what was happening on the track. I've never seen him wave his flag before the real flagman displays whatever flag is necessary. I also realize that with the size of the burg one person can't see everything all the time. Just seems to me that the kid reacts quicker than the real flagman and seems to love flagging a race. I enjoy watching the kid flag and seeing how fast and good he is with the flags has now become part of the nite's discussion after the races. I also sincerely hope that no one gets hurt because the flagman didn't react in time..
