I definetly agree with SpfldMile, Would love to run the MSCS shows there. That would be great.

As far as the battle of the posts going on here, lets get back to the orginal post, congratulations to Powri, USAC, and most importanly the Gundakers. Who cares who said what or who needs who. Both orginazations needed each other and it worked for all of us( the most important) FANS!!!!!!

I told my buddy after the second B on Friday that it was the best midget race I had ever seen. That record lasted all the way until the A friday night. By far the best midget race I can remember witnessing.

Truth hurts DWB.

Maybe some and I said some of the drivers would have shown up at Tri-City but not all their normal cars.

Spridge I am with you on all of this.

Now go ahead Don hit me on the fact that I am in California and don't go to midwest races. You are wrong on this and I have been to at least 6 midwest midget races and all the West Coast USAC Midgets races. Sorry to tell you but I have a little more than a clue.

This thread has veered seriously off-topic...so I will continue. As I stated previously...a great racing event was had, & few, if any faults could be found with it.

RacingFan09's post got me wondering....do we need stacker trailers to run for $2500 to win, using $45k - $60k 4 cylinder power plants? Midget racing was abundant when they ran lower buck engines, such as the VW. I would also bet that the racing was just as good, even though slower, than todays standard. I'm all for people spending their money as they see fit, but if the proper rules had been in place, we wouldn't be in the current situation we're in now with all of open wheel racing!

Did you here "stir, stir, stir" over in the corner? Well, was just me having fun with the ol' board.
I have spoken with Brown and Siner previously about how POWRi does a better job of officiating their events. I still have no reason to change that opinion, but only a fool would deny that the USAC name is a better "draw" to Joe Fan out on the street, at least for the present.

All of this arguing aside, I'll get back to the original topic, and add a 4th cheer...

One for The Gundakers/Tri City Speedway for all of their hard work and promise of a return of the Gold Crown Midget Nationals in 2009. :respect:

Two for POWRi for stepping up as the original sanctioning body and running a great show.

Three for USAC for joining forces with POWRi as the co-sanction and potentially adding more quality cars to the already strong field of drivers.

Four for the fans and supporters of midget racing in the midwest, because without them, there would be no race. There was a major increase between Thursday and Saturday in attendance, which was awesome and proves midget racing still has a chance! :thumb

I won't add anything to the previous debate, but I do agree with a couple o posts.

1. Count me in on a huge congrats and sincere appreciation to the Gundakers and staff for a fabulous weekend to end our season.

2. I'm with Aero.....on the final night of a MIDGET Extravaganza, maybe run the support class in it's entirety before the Midget B-Mains. Maybe dress the track during the down time between the B's and the A ?

3. Even though POWRi had this event scheduled/planned/announced way back in January, it didn't hurt my feelings seeing USAC come aboard later, with National Points, to ensure their Championship contending Owners and Drivers were in the field. No sense in arguing who did what first, second or what the hell ever, it turned into a Great Event that the Gundakers have promised to repeat.:respect:

4. And finally, despite missing Thursday due to a Crash House stay, it was one of the highlights of my year to spend the last race of the season with our great friends from all over the country at OUR home track, for a change! :applaud:

See you at the Chili Bowl...

P.S. If John McCain wins in a couple o weeks, look for our buddy Merrillville Al to make a fortune on Late Night TV with his fabulous imitation of the old fart :O::rolling

usac is the top midget racing division in the country. if they were so bad kkr, tsr, nine racing, klatt, loyet would put their main focus on poweri. now everybody is going to say loyet is a poweri driver.... ask them, they would rather finish a top 10 in a usac show as opposed to beating a dilapidated old man's (don more) piece of crap. kirk is absolutely correct.. why do these guys go to the chili bowl.. kudos to usac for what they did this weekend and poweri.. yeah there was a lot of yellow shirts running around the race track with radios on, but who was doing most of talking and directing on the radio?? USAC.. grab a scanner and listen... who was talking to the drivers on the radios getting them in line???? usac
