I was thinking these 500 lap races was Earls "one better than" the Little 500 at Anderson. Early always had to do "one better" than the other promoters.

And, the races didn't really get much publicity as I remember. Another Earl thing. Eldora even back then operated on "word of mouth". Early really didn't spend a lot of money on advertising outside of the area. Race fans and drivers "just knew" when something big was happening at Eldora.
