Jim

You just going to have to find another place to rest your left foot on, that's all>>>> Really we did the same thing a while ago them aluminum rotors just don't like pads designed for steal rotors very much. It's kind of Weird soft rotors hard pads.

Believe it or not Dad, I was staying off the pedal until I needed to be there; I spent a lot of time with Bill Baue at Leader's Edge figuring out where to put the heel rest and how high it needed to be, and that part's paid off.
But we digress. As usual. I was happy to see the turnout, and thrilled to be a part of it.

Can you imagine 4500 hits on Jim's Post about a Midget race to be run at Gas City Speedway. There must be just a few people, interested in the topic.

NOW if we could convert 25% of those hits into paying fans and racers They would have to start work on putting in some new back stretch bleachers and expanding the pits.

Our brake issues went away when we went to the wilwood purple pads

My favorite adage is "seat time">>> "seat time" >>> "seat time", my bet is that seat time is a lot less trying on a 16 year old butt than a 50+ year old butt.

You said it Dad; I feel more comfortable in the car every lap and I wish I could've gotten 20 more in last night, and part 2 of your statement is true as well; I just watched "Young Money" put it to 'em at Charlotte and he looks fresher after 300 miles than I felt after an 8-lap heat.
I gotta say I'm livin' a dream doing this. I hope folks don't mind the babbling of a last-place finisher but I thought it might be cool to relate my experiences. It's taken me forty years too long to get in the seat but I'm glad I never lost the fire.
Over 4,800 hits now, that's humbling, but I hope people do take notice. There's a way to go Midget racing that doesn't take a trailer load of silver ingots, and it's playing out on a couple of bullrings in East/Central Indiana thanks to the vision of Harold Hunter, and to Mel Potkin for listening to a couple of voices of reason. Tate Martz thanked me last night for starting this thread and getting interest up and if it helped I'm glad to have played a part, but thanks also goes to Greg Watson for putting the bug in Mel's ear to let chain drives in or I wouldn't have had a reason to start the thread. Also, huge credit should go to Don Moore for working to get a reasonable mimimum purse established. I hope this thing snowballs.

Like I said first you need racers then you need fans and then fans make for more racers. Back in the past of DIY racing in the United States people could build a Midget or Roadster or Hard Top and go racing. This echonomic down turn might yet be a blessing to grass roots racing. People like Harold said why can't we make an economical Midget race class and by darned he did. There will still be people with money racing this division also, but judicious use of rules I think can help weed them out or at least slow them down. I don't mean over complex rules like bore spacing and allowing certain designs of chassis and suspension parts but common sense rules like tire compound and tread width. You guys are on the right path sure hope it drifts down south a bit more. Keep up the good work and remember "Seat Time">>>"SEAT Time" >>>"Seat Time"

You wana be racers out there reading IOW here is your chance to go open wheel racing.

Ask Jim you don't even have to win the race to have a ball out there on the race track and come into the pits after a race and be shaking all over with excitement from your adventure.
