I agree Johnny. I went to the first 2 shows at Eldora this year; the late model show and the USAC show. Both were no-passing, dustbowl parades. No way was I going to pay $25 to watch an Outlaw winged parade this past weekend. A guys sitting beside me Saturday night at Waynesfield and I were reminicing at the "Earl" days of Eldora. Place didn't have have fancy suites, videoboards, etc - just good racing. A group of guys in front of me chimed in and said they quit going there - not good.

Eldora loves to brag how they were apparently voted the number 1 track in the country, but they need a new surface badly!

I love the statement they make over the loudpeakers calling their pushers the "world famous Eldora push trucks". Give me a break.

They are world famous push trucks. Give me a break they throw a little show build up the track and wahh on here. It's called promoting. I get it the surface may get dusty so what? Afraid to get a little dirty?

All I need is a heavy track and heavy buzz!

This thread is funny. From all accounts on other message boards and social media from people who were actually at the WoO shows this weekend, the racing was good and people are generally pretty pleased with their experiences. I would tend agree because the highlight videos I watched, the racing was far from a WoO snoozefest. Looked pretty good to me.

Then we have this place. Did some of you sign a contract when you got your username on here that states you must find a way to complain or bash winged racing or Eldora anytime either one is ever mentioned? I mean, you actually just figured out a way to rag on their push trucks. Seriously???

Ya, seriously. Were you there for the USAC show or the late model show before that this April? I was - both were dustbowl parades where you could hardly see across the track. For a track that loves to hype itself as the greatest-this, greatest-that, it doesn't deliver. Its great if you love to party and catch a race secondary though.

Car counts continue to decline, in all divisions there. The 4-Crown is nowhere near what it used to be. And ya, calling a push truck "world famous" is beyond stupid.

Yes I was at the USAC show. And guess what, this thread was not about that race. Other than EldoraMark, not a single person in this thread who has complained was even there this weekend. THat's my point. Some of you hijack the thread to either A)bash wing racing or B)bash Eldora or C)just say something stupid. Go through other threads on here and you can often replace those names with other topics and same effect.

I don't disagree that Eldora needs new dirt. Not because the racing is bad (by and large its been pretty good the past couple years - go watch their highlight videos of wing races and late model races - it may surprise you). But they need it because the dust, yes.

But what I dont get is how the fact it can be dusty and they need new dirt also means the suites are useless, the jumbotron is dumb, the 'worlds greatest push trucks' are stupid, WoO has set back racing 20 years... and on and on and on.

(If anything, WoO is the only organization that is keeping dirt racing anywhere near the limelight right now and actually attracting new fans. Not sure if you've looked around lately, but the best business to advertise at USAC events would be a funeral home).

Lastly, and all step off my soapbox, if putting new clay down was such an easy fix, I feel like Stewart probably would have did that already. It's not like he's afraid of spending money there. He's put all new dirt down once already a few years ago (not a very smart move obviously), built the suites, brought in the jumbotron, added to the restrooms, etc. So that tells me there is either more to the story that we dont know or finding good clay is not as easy as some of you brains think it is.

granted it is a great facility, but it is a race track first and in order to be a 1st class race track it needs a 1st class surface on which to race, which it currently doesn't have. it won't keep me away cause its a racey place regardless of track surfaces, but it would be nice to be able to see the whole track at all times w/o eating dust. I totally dig the jumbo-tron, could care less about the suites one way or the other, but once again, a 1st class track needs a 1st class racing surface/ and imho more non wing sprint car and midget racing would be awesome too! I don't understand why there isn't more of each considering where owner tony stewart honed his craft? and let them call the push trucks what they want, its a showbiz tradition for the announcers to dish out pride and to exemplify positivity and excitement and for the staff to keep the show moving along (which they are very good at!)
