i wasn't going to go for 750 to win and 150 to start for more than one reason, if the purse is going to be better though than i will go support it. I don't know how or why any driver would want to bring their racecar out for 750 to win. Hell sprint cars were running for more than that back in the 80s.

i agree with you completely. 750 doesnt really make it worth while. If you guys have any questions or comments just give him a call. He really does want this deal to work out for everyone. i know you guys here in central illinois need a local place to race including jax. so even if he has a couple shows a year that are successful it gives you guys a chance to race locally. jmo. for whatever thats worth.

Still think it would be great if there was a Illinois speedweek, perhaps next year??

Doesnt have to be all non wing sprints, could be a couple nights of (lets say) MSCS sprints, a couple nights of POWRi midgets, maybe even a couple nights of both. Certainly plenty of tracks over there.

Bashing? I live 15 min from Lincoln and just wanted sprinters to stick together. If you do you see the end results 1500 to win. Now there are 2 shows that pay well. Is there anyone going to help us and show up that isn’t already racing in IL? Sounds like the track promoters are listening to us. I would like to see some good cars here for the weekend that would help prove they put up the money and we put on the show. We will be at both.

I like that idea a lot. And don't forget, Steve Shepherd's new New Berlin track should be done by next year. Perhaps an I-72 tour of Macon, Morgan County, New Berlin, and Quincy would work.

Jeremy,
I talked to Don yesterday and as we were talking, he got a log-in ID here, and put up his own post about raising the purse, and included his phone number. He's excited about the race, and it will be fine. There are plenty of cars that will be there. But he knows what Danville did last year, they paid $750 to win the first week, and then we added to it each time we ran. And everyone knows Paragon still pays $500 to win, $100 to start, and they still get 50-70 cars any given weekend, even with Putnumville paying twice that, 25 miles up the road. But the good news is he is still running us, and is going to add to the purse.

The thing we all need to remember about Illinois is that it is stock car country now. Midgets and sprints lost their appeal to fans many years ago and the weekly stock car races that are here have taken the fans that use to support the openwheel shows and converted them to fender fans.

It is going to take along time if ever for openwheel cars to make a comeback here.

I like both types of racing, our family used to race with a wing at J,ville and Tri-City, however, it seems to me that the car count would be better if it were non-wing. For the guys who race with a wing, they can take it off and leave it at home (less chance of destroying it). The non wing guys for the most part don't have wing brakets on their cars so even if they wanted to put one on they couldn't. If you make it a winged race track you will likely lose most of the non wing guys. I can't imagine too many welding on wing brackets to race in Illinois, they will probably go to Indiana instead.

I repeat....A poll is just a poll.Nothing more nothing less.Winged fans are trying to prove that we are making a huge mistake. This is for their enjoyment.Doesn't anyone wonder why we are wingless in a winged area??Some of you know what I am talking about, and some of you don't.I apologize for not going into details.I REPEAT.....I SUPPORT THOSE WHO SUPPORT US...end of story:thumb
