That's what "they" keep telling us, but I (and most folks I know) haven't seen much "improving".

Today in Grand Rapids Michigan gas is 4.29
Something to think about is the world market for gas. China and India are using more and more oil every year. So if we in the USA did not use any at all, the world as a whole is still using a lot of oil. But I do hate the old story of something happened at a oil plant over night and gas has to go up 25 cents as soon as it happens. |

This from today's Indy Star:
"The Indianapolis area generally is not required to use the summer blend, she said, because its pollution readings meet certain federal guidelines. But the area’s market is still affected because of its proximity to areas that fail to meet those guidelines such as Lake County in Northwest Indiana and the Cincinnati area. When refineries incur costs making the switch, petroleum companies pass costs to consumers. A third factor, Purdue University economist Wally Tyner said, is “a perfect storm of refinery outages.” He said he has never seen such a large price gap between the U.S. and Indiana averages: nearly 50 cents. He said a fire at an oil refinery in Detroit and an ongoing upgrade of BP’s Whiting refinery in northwestern Indiana are fueling much of the increase. Tyner said a refinery in Joliet, Ill., also is undergoing maintenance, further shrinking regional gas supplies." That is what p*sses me off in regard to prices. Why do I have to pay for that? It's your business, the cost of doing business, you pay for it. Think about it, a McDonalds has a fire and then charges $20 for a Big Mac to make up for it. Same thing.... The supplies things doesn't fly with me either. That's a line of BS too. |

Up to $4.29 in SW Michigan now. That's up about $.50 since last week, or so.
I don't use it, but I see the price of diesel is lower that gas now. Has diesel fluctuated at all or has it remained steady? Gouging. This is going to put a hurt in all of our travels this year (stating the obvious). I am already thinking of cutting back - when and where are the next decisions. |
