Not saying it can't work, but didn't LPS try Thursday night racing last year?

In my mind the Thursday night races were an addition to the schedule, kind of at the last minute. I think if they had been announced when the schedule for the season was released,or perhaps had just one a month, with the word out well beforehand, then it might have had a better shot than it did last year.

Having said that,I was at every one of them except one,and the one I didnt go to I thought was going to get rained out,as I was working late in Indy, and it was raining here at the time. I went one night in the blazing heat, where they were handing out bottles of water for the attendees.Where was everyone else?? Didnt have to worry about a rain out that night.

Biggest problem nowadays is that a lot of fans are "fair weather fans" If its to hot or to cold they stay home and wait for updates. Not me,I moved here to go to the races,as often as the wallet allows.

Yet even you checked the radar Saturday as I did and did not attend LPS.......................

Not bashing, Im just saying promoters need a lot of things to go right just to break even, Let alone make a buck at it.

No,as a matter of fact I had no plans on going to P-ville last weekend. My plan for last Saturday night was the Little 500,and I went irregardless of the weather. Its a once a year thing for me,and there also was a party for one of the members here as well.I went,it rained out...Oh well. Socially it was still a fun day.

Sunday night, same thing.I was going to Anderson, even though I'd have rather been at Kokomo. Its a once a year race at Anderson, and I had already shelled out $29 for a ticket. Luckily they got it in,and it was a great night. They werent so lucky at Kokomo, but I'll get lucky,as I'll get 2 see 2 races there next time I go.

I had been to the other 3 races at Kokomo, and the first 2 were poorly attended. It was cold. The 3rd night it was a beautiful day out,and attendance was much better. Coincidence? Same with the 2 races at Lawrenceburg when they were the only show in town after everyone else cancelled.Great car counts, yet poorly attended. Why?? Because it was cold. People apparently have forgotten how to dress for colder weather nowadays.

Back to KISS. Would Thursday nights work, and maybe better yet,no having to not race on your "normal" night for competing tracks, assuming you got the word out for dates early in the year when schedules come out?

So this is taken out of context. I know I posted the purses but why does Kokomo and putnamville feels the need to raise their purse the night of a kiss race. I know there would of been a good possibility that tri state would of picked up a few more this past week if Kokomo didn't pay more bland Wes Mac windom and a couple more. This is what I have a need about it seems to me some tracks are scared of kiss that they won't get any cars.juat seems weird how putnamville has several normal payouts but they chose this week to up the purse. Just doesn't make sense. I like putnamville and I enjoy going. This is the only issue I have with management. Paragon doesn't get big nights putnamville holds Usac Midwest sprint series. Late models. Midget week. Let paragon have their one night.

It really screws you out of cars as a fan. And screws promoters out of money. Ralph Latham memorial here I come.

Not everyone wants to, or should go run a KISS or USAC show. And too many cars can hurt a show just as much as too few cars. Especially if many of those teams don't have the experience or funds to be competitive with the top teams.
You all have no clue how lucky your are in Indiana to not have a million classes to dilute the fields with the majority of tracks have 5 or 6 eight car features and be able to have a track run a big special and other tracks still have enough cars for a show that night for the racers and fans who can't make the special race.
And don't forget something else. When all the well funded teams go run the KISS or USAC shows the other tracks give the less well funded and experienced teams a chance to shine and have their night in the limelight. And what's so wrong with them having a chance to run for a little more money the night the top teams are running elsewhere? Sometimes that little bit of extra money, and exposure to fans and sponsors can make a huge difference to a small team.

This seems like a non-issue to me. Reports from TSS were that the racing was great, full field, and all went home happy. Kokomo had a good turnout and more fans to the north got to see sprint cars (it did rain out the feature but we got to see a fair amount of racing). Few fans who attended the Kokomo event would have been at TSS if Kokomo did not run. So, the only thing impacted at TSS was not having a larger car count. Is that really important? If more cars would have been there it would have just sent more home who did not make the feature.

Kokomo has ran the kokomo klassic the Sunday of Memorial day weekend for the last few years. The cars that were at Kokomo probably wouldnt have been at TSS anyways. The smaller teams cant afford to drive all the way there. Yea the purse was higher but a lot of the smaller guys cannot afford that. The car counts for the Kiss races this year have all been in the lower 30s that could be because of the weather..or teams just dont have the money. It just seems guys are staying closer to home. As for the scheduling other shows, I just dont think promoters can take a chance on running something other than their regular show. Gas City tried the Sunoco alms series a few years and the car counts just dropped off. Why pay out a larger purse for a series and not get the fans or the cars to support it? LPS did the summer nats and it didnt seem like the fans supported that with a pretty high purse. Sorry for getting off topic but there were some other questions about other series lol =P
