Do you think that maybe Indy car owners are like many of the modern day short track race tracks owners of today. That is to say they are trying to finance their operation with the back gate ( well connected drivers) and are not even in the least bit worried about the front gate.
Seems to me like ole NASCAR is still making their money on the front gate. Could be the Indy people might be a bit near sighted. Rather than finding the real talent out there, they are looking for drivers with just a little talent and very deep pockets. That way they don't have to put forth as much effort looking for sponsors. Or maybe deep pocket USA sponsors are looking for someone with a name like Jones or Foyt or Stewart with real talent to put their money behind.
We do not have to prove to the world that American drivers brought up turning left only are good race drivers. Mario proved that years ago when he went over there and beat them at their own game. How many Indy drivers have you seen racing at Bloomington or Gas City showing us their driving ability.
NASCAR and the Outlaws just sit back and laugh or maybe wonder why USAC drivers do not have a chance to advance beyond driving Sprint cars. If a young driver wants to stay in open wheel racing and make a good living his only path is with the Outlaw's. Otherwise they end up as a NASCAR development driver waiting for somebody to retire.
I kinda of like the roadster idea. Any body that could tame one of those things is one hell of a driver and would not have one bit of problem learning how to turn right ever so often. But not many of those "right" turning drivers could ever become maestro Champ Car driver at Du Quoin.
If they really want to help Indy car racing get them off of the Street's and put them back on Dirt tracks in Dirt Cars where us regular folks can watch them up close and personal!!
