Hopefully I can get Hunter up here with his HOJO sponsored Mach 1 chassis.
For all you sprint car teams from Indiana or wherever, I will be giving a Heck of a rate on Sunday night for the Hewitt Classic if you want a Hotel room at my Howard Johnson in Lima.
How about 39.95 !!!!!!!! Heck, If you have one of my decals on the car and you WIN !!!! Stay for free !!!!
Can't beat that !

I don't make the order of events, but I would guess the sprints will run 2nd. Minis or trucks first. If the track is "groomed" before the feature, those classes will widen the groove a little and won't damage the track. Again, please reconsider. I hope tons of people come out and see a great race to honor a great racer.

Jeremy,

First of all, thank you very much for your offer. I said that we probably wouldn't be going with WRP adding in the modifieds. RacinBabe and I really like Waynesfield and we were looking forward to again seeing the Jack Hewitt Classic. It was a great race last year and I hope that it is a success again this year.

There are a number of reasons that were lurking before this announcement. First of all, it is a Sunday night show. I have to be at work on Monday morning at 6:00 AM for a meeting. If the show was going to be a 3 class show and would be over at a decent time, say like 10:30 PM, then we have a 2 1/2 hour drive home. That makes it 1 AM and that leaves a small amount of . Borderline, but we planned on being there.

Add in the modifieds and I can assure you that the car count will be pretty good. Tack on another 1 to 1 1/2 hours to the show and now you are looking at 2:00-2:30 AM until we arrive home. Probably won't be happening.

I would hope that a promoter would see this for what it really is. A special event that honors one of the true greats in open wheel racing. A Sunday night show that needs to be run effectively and quickly in order to get the fans, drivers, car owners, officials, etc....home at a decent hour. Also you have to remember that by that time school has started so your chances of having families in attendance for a marathon won't be happening. If they choose to pad the pocketbook with an inflated back gate by adding another support class, then they need to realize that the front gate will suffer. Only the promoter can make that call.

Sprints and one support class would have us there no problem. Sprints and two support classes would probaably get us there. Sprints and three support classes, it probably won't be happening. As I mentioned before, I hope it is a success and everyone enjoys the show.

I was going to go but aint no more ..... unless I get the deal. Just kidding, not thrilled about going to four divisions but will just have to be a long Monday at work. WRP really needs to consider this thing through, if this bombs, it could really hurt all the positive momentum they built up this year with a great Ohio Sprint Speedweek show, and Bob Reynolds Memorial and damn good racing every Saturday night that is really beginning to draw good crowds over there. One bad night could ruin a whole season of work. I have asked many times but why in the hell is this race on a Sunday?

Jack Hewitt deserves a full field of non wings and a packed grandstand as he gave us 100% every lap he drove to entertain us! Sunday is ideal with most Ohio tracks silent and nothing is happening non wing wise in Indiana on the 16th. Just run an efficient show with features finishing at a decent time. The track condition and number of classes can be controlled but weather, large class car counts, and a red flag or two are out of the promoter's control. Hopefully WRP will control their end and a great season can end on a positive note. See everyone at WRP on Sept. 16.

Thanks for the offer. I am with Mike on this. With a couple support classes, and if you ran the sprints first,I'd take a chance on it. 3 classes with the drive over,no thanks. I'd like to see the Jack Hewitt race, cause Jack is 2nd on my all time fave list.No one can beat Tommy Hinnersh itz for first on my fave list,so he comes in 2nd.

You might have lost Mike,Racin Babe and I from traveling over from Indiana, but will probably get more local fans that like Modifieds.

As I noted earlier,I get to go to a lot of races,so missing one here or there this year hasnt bothered me to much. I am getting a bit choosier this year, and some that I would have gone to to add to the numbers,I havent bothered with this year. Some of it comes down to dollars and cents. Some of it from lacking enthusiasm.

No offense taken guys. There is still a few weeks for you to change your mind and I will honor my invitation. I understand the drive issue and working the next day. I'm up at 430 to start at 6 also. Probably the only reason I don't go to kokomo.
Again I'm sorry that the added class has persuaded you to stay home. Hopefully there will be updates and video for those who can't be there. See ya in a few weeks.

I'll be making my 1st trip over. I would prefer Just sprints and mods but it is what it is. Just a guy trying to make a living. Its looks like roughly a 5 and 1/2 hour trip one way for me so I may need to find a hotel for saturday night. I guess working night shift isnt so bad from time to time. Get to see a new race track honoring a great racer. Then the next weekend be at the 4 crown. Cant wait to make my first visit to Waynesfield.
