many race tracks have cancelled because of the heat in the past couple of weeks and nobody has said a word. A lot of people on here was not there last night. The heat was as bad as can get. It's USAC's responsibility to protect us from ourselves.

I need some more popcorn. This is better than watching NASCAR on TV tonight.......it's my ONLY choice tonight.
Seriously Folk's, MY GOD..... Here in California there isn't a decent midget or non wing sprint car race within a five hour drive and it's a Saturday night in July!!! You all are having the worst heat in 50 years and you are complaining that a, ONE, race was cancelled tonight.... I wish I had yours problems......... |

Its been +95° in PA the past two weeks for sprint week for 8 races in 9 nights. You dont see them pussing out bc its to hot & humid. Sack up & go race. Its what you do for a living!

My problem with USAC is a culmination of things. This is just another straw for me. Tell me how it makes sinse to race yesterday and then not today when the temps are close to the same? All the teams spent all the money to get up there, bought their hotel rooms, and gas ect. to only run one night. What about the dirt only guys that were almost there today that wasted all the money.
You combine this with trying to slaughter the Silver Crown series by mandating a new few that no one but one team wants, killing their pavement sprint series, midget counts low on the pavement and dirt side, and putting Ballou on some sort of weird probation that hasnt been done in ages and USAC is on the verge of alienating their whole following. Again, the POWRi is doing fine with midgets and Must See is doing fine with pavement sprints so what is USAC doing wrong? They shoot theirself in the foot everytime you turn around anymore. Sorry for the rant. Actually the cancellation tonight is the least of the worst if that makes since. I will not support another USAC race (other than Silver Crown because I dont want to see those cars disappear) again. I would rather support local indiana tracks and the POWRi then spend my money at the gate to watch USUC. |

JMO (and it probably doesn't matter to anyone). If USAC or ANY OTHER group or track and or its promoter, official, safety crew, etc., etc., etc., wants to put my car or my son in harms way, due to heat, safety or other, I just don't put the car on the track. Its that simple. Just because the track is there and your buddies are there doesn't mean you have to.

I guess that's the difference between a hobby and a profession..The choice that is.. Some of these crew guys do this 'work' for a living. They don't perform, hey dont get paid, they don't have a job, they don't eat. They don't have the 'luxury' of choosing when to race. Its their 'duty' if you will, to perform at the best of there abilities all season long..You wont hear a peep from them on issues like this but believe me, they are thanking USAC. . Hats off to all the badass's/grunts/hardworkers in the pits that work through this heat. Have a cold one and enjoy a day off.

All I am saying is this. Weather its a race or my "job" as you put, if my boss tries to put me in harms way, (weather I loose pay or not) I don't do it. If it is a danger to my health or a safety issue, etc. money isn't important !!!! Enjoy your cold one and enjoy the race ! |

My issue isn't with the cancelation, it's timing. 2pm on raceday? We have been living with this heat for over a week. The heat was a known going into weekend. If it was too hot, should have canceled days ago or after last night's show.
I feel for the track, they were put in a bad spot. Intermission now, they have put on a great show, especially for $7. Timing of it all just doesn't make sense with the heat being a known. Seems there is more to it to me. BTW, it feels like spring tonight in comparison. A nice cool breeze. So a swing and a miss on that. Last thing I'll say on it, done and over with now.
