Most of the wing guys mentioned that adapted well had already started out without wings and then came back. Plus, 7 or 8 years ago and before, the wing cars all had better engines in them because they need more HP, so it was a little easier for them to come in and run good on half miles. Steve Butler, Jack Hewitt, Kevin Swindell, Brad Sweet, and Bill Rose to name a few seem to have been able to adapt pretty well. Actually, Steve Kinser, Sammy Swindell, Doug Wolfgang, Jac Haudenschild, and many other "wing guys" all started out without wings and obviously adapted just fine.
