I think they look awesome...and i think it is a creative; progressive direction. I understand all of the "traditionalists" out there....however if we always maintained a "traditionalists" view - we would still have open cockpit cars, people getting hurt much more. The fact is - the better USAC can align itself with what manufactures care about, or like, or design - the better for everybody...

It is interesting that for two years everyone on this board attacked the new style silver crown car, but when you vote "none of the above," that is exactly what you are voting FOR!

This is not USAC that is asking for your imput, it is a group of owners (they are listed in the press release). They are trying to figure out how to reinvigorate their investments, while most of the people on this board only criticize without offering a viable alternative. Look at the alternatives and some positive suggestions.

As much I I loved the 1960s-70s era cars, they ain't comin' back kids!

My vote is for #2, #6 and #8.

I still say that the "look" is less important than the technology. The look should not be the driving force of the cars, but the technical requirements. Does that make sense?

Be sure to visit www.manvelmotorsports.com. 2024 Robert Ballou Calendars are available.

That being said, I think either #2 or #6 is the best option, but that's like picking the best turd out of the bunch. I also think that, given the speeds these cars achieve on the bigger tracks, they're going to kill somebody with just that rollcage on top. Could be wrong, but it seems like that wouldn't be sufficient in a 165+ mph crash, especially flipping down through the grass off the backstretch at a place like Chicagoland.

Hope that never comes to pass.
Fisher, you got it right, but best turd in the bunch.

To you maybe, but most people will not pay good money to see "fat and ugly" when they can go down to the local K mart and watch "fat and ugly" all day long for free.

Actually, the old saying, that I believe in, is that if it looks wrong, it usually is..... and this thing looked like a loser right from the start.

Eric, there is no pleasing these people. The owners who are stuck with these cars because of bad decisions by previous management, apparently these so-called "fans" think those owners should just be left with an $80,000 investment and nowhere to run it. USAC is doing their best with a bad situation but unfortunately the "fans" don't seem to care about the teams or USAC.

Yes, it does unless you're one of these people who never make it past the grandstand or their keyboards.

Mike, you might want to remember that if the fans don't like the racing or the look of the cars they won't be back. If there is no butts in the seat the promoters won't book the cars back and you will have no place to run. We are all in this together like it or not. The promoter must make money, the fans have to want to see the race. Without those of us "that never make it pass the the grandstand" why would the guys be needed in the pits? All of us at the track are needed to make it happen.
How about you give everyone at the track alittle respect.

Well! Since the sketches they are considering have not produced a clear consensus as to what the new gold crown safety specracer should look like, I will submit my cars as an alternative proposal for your consideration. Please include my cars in your vote!:wink

USAC, are you listening?

LEAVE THE SILVER CROWN CARS ALONE.
Jon, they are leaving the Silver Crown cars alone. These are the Gold Crown cars, a completely different division/series. It's my understanding the Silver Crown series, both dirt and pavement, will live on as it has in the past. No redesign of the Silver Crowns. :thumb
