I have seen support classes actually take less time than just down time. People are more focused on getting ready when they know a race is about over. The secret to Terre Haute is push trucks, wreckers and running the program efficiantly, and that has not been a problem under this team.
I'm sorry but I have seen the support class be a problem under Sargent at Terre Haute. My how short some peoples' memories are. When Sargent had the track the last time there were no more interviews with USAC drivers, no more lining up the cars for intros, the "support class running last which meant all the sprint car teams were loaded up by the time the stock cars finished so it was pointless to go to the pits to talk to drivers. What once seemed like special races seemed just like any old night at any old po-dunk track. Not to mention curfew problems that I clearly remember. The mods didn't get to run one night and they were all really pi$$ed.
The half miles that seem to pull it off ok like Eldora have the pits in the inside and a large fleet of push trucks which THAT never has. Even then, I've never gotten out of Eldora very early either. I know some people like them, but you can already find them at 90% of the tracks in the country, it was nice for the many purists to not have them at THAT the last several years and I know for a fact that it wasn't the lack of modifieds that almost closed it down or Sarge never would've given up the track when he had it before. If they bring in so many people then I expect nothing but sell outs.
being on both sides of mods and sprints time limits are nice as long as tney apply to all classes like bloomington everyone pays same pit passes if you want support classes to help out at back gate treat all equal jmo
The sprint features at terre haute that I have seen took longer than the mod features. All it takes is one red flag and it will take longer than the mod feature. It takes forever to push off 20 sprinters on a half mile. Nobody is to blame, it's just a big track and it takes a while for push trucks to go around.
Just be happy for terre haute having this many races this year, and quit complaining about the dang support class. Whether it is modifieds, super stocks, bombers, or hornets. They are just as much of a racer as open wheel guys, and they have just as much of a right to be there as any open wheel guy. They pay the same pit pass as everyone else.

Get the fans in, get the fans out at a decent hour. Driver intros are a a complete waste of time and I will not support any track that does them. Doing things the way they did in the 1960's and 1970's does not translate to modern day racing.
Hey, if they need to add ONE support class in order to make this work economically for them, then I say so be it. This schedule is a thing of fricken beauty, as far as I'm concerned. I plan to walk around and visit with my friends, during this part of the program. Other than Putnamville, there's no better track to do this than the Terre Haute Action Track.
Vive le Terre Haute Action Track!

Its been four years since Shaw, Staab, Cowboy, Hoffmans and everyone and their brother said, YOU GOTTA GET TO THAT!
One Visit and I was hooked!
For the record, TE had the track for the second half of '10 as a sub lease and it wasn't renewed for some reason. Last Year after the daytime fiasco, I think Reece was secured for track prep.
I can think of nothing but good things, Other than the possibility of loosing Coolers, I don't care if theres a cooler tax of five bucks but those people in the infield go for that reason, A PICNIC AND RACIN!
Also for the record, Several shows the past couple years got rain or Over soaked by the water truck, I see a support class at minimum being a great help to get a show like that in. Wasn't the dust out because the track was scraped after rain?. I also haven't seen the Too the Wall track and the slide jobs I see in video like the Hockett/Ballou battle, i think Widening the track out with a support class can only help this.
The bottom line for me is support division or no support division I will be there whenever I can. It is THAT, and when the track is good, there is nowhere else that can compare.
