What 2 and 2.5 mile tracks will run these things? Texas, California, Michigan, Talladega, Daytona, Pocono?

If those tracks are on the "radar" I hate to see the aftermath of a wreck with those cars.

I distinctly hearing and seeing pictures of one of these things hitting the wall at Phoenix after they first came out and I was shoced the driver was okay after that wreck and that isn't as fast a track as the ones I listed above.

You should say that the 2006-07 New Generation Silver Crown Car was built to run on 1.5 mile tracks ... as a " Gold Crown Car " has yet to be tested or raced anywhere in Gold Crown skin.

I think it's premature to be calling this "Gold Crown" in the past tense. This is like saying that Richard Petty is a former NASCAR "Sprint Cup" Champion.

As for two and two and a half mile tracks , I remember some who questioned the safety of this car at 180 mph on a mile and a half track. In that regard , the safety aspect has never been tested as ( thankfully ) no one ever took one into the concrete at full song. This is where some much needed R&D could come into play that is absent in much of open wheel racing. Until that day , I would forget the superspeedways of 2-plus miles in length. Just my opinion but shared by others.

It is OD that dirtywhiteboy is questioning the crash safety of the cars. When was the last time you saw a silver crown car take a hit on a mile track as hard as the new gen car did and start the feature 2 hrs later. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. As for when the time comes to look at larger venues I am pretty sure they will come up with something to keep the speeds manageable. I think those places are fare enough down the road that its not a major concern now. But remember DREAM BIG AND KEEP REACHING FOR THINGS YOU CANT REACH TODAY BECAUSE TOMARROW YOU JUST MIGHT GET THERE>

sc96...as a fan who has been to a ton of IRL and NASCAR races in the past 10+ years, I just want to thank you for your work and enthusiasm toward the creation of this new series. NASCAR isn't open wheel and the IRL has sadly become little more than CART reborn. The Gold Series is needed I am all for it. Where do I buy my tix?

Thanks for the support. I truly believe the Gold Crown Div fits a gap that needs to be filled. And by filling this gap it gives sprint, midget drivers more of a chance to get to IRL by giving them experience on larger speedways and road courses.

The only thing that will give guys the chance to run IRL cars is owners who can make money(Or at least be able to supprt the car costs) running the series(Be able to sell to sponsors). That and rear engine experince wouldn't hurt as well.

This is the car that is most closely related to the definition of ugly.
Yet , Mr. Ashmore has distanced himself to that association by stating to Bob Gates in a NSSN article , quote - " I don't know who was responsible , I can guess , but there's no reason that the looks of the car had to be forced on us ". I'm not convinced that Ashmore will be getting his way this time , either.
Ashmore Design doesn't seem to have a web-site , least I can't find it.

Devin Race Cars

They don't seem to have a web-site either other than the DRC site. This is Joe Devin of the DRC Chassis Co., Gasoline Alley , Indy. DRC is largely a manufacturer of Sprint Car chassis and has had great success in that endeavor. The DRC site makes no mention of a Gold Crown project. DRC was a former manufacturer of the New Generation Silver Crown car.

Riley Technologies

Riley was formerly here in Indy ; moved the entire operation to Mooresville , North Carolina in 2006. Riley is the primary supplier of the Daytona Prototype for the Rolex Grand Am ; also projects with Porsche , Mazda and Corvette. Riley seems to have a lot on their plate already. The Riley web-site , http://www.rileytech.com also makes no mention of a Gold Crown project. Riley also constructed the former New Generation Silver Crown car.

Rock Chassis

Never heard of 'em. Has anyone else ?
They don't seem to have a web-site either.
It's taken me a while to answer this one. Thanks for the input, this post made me think about how to find us, and how to tell everyone who we are. So since this post we have been developing the websites. The temporary Gold Crown information site, which uses the promotion material our sponsors are using to show what the series is about, is now up. The other websites and links are now going up. www.ashmoredesign.com has a Gold Crown page and launch button to the www.goldcrownchampionship.com website. If you look on Joe Devin's website, www.drcchassis.com then pick the buy-your-DRC-today! button you will see the Gold Crown car is now on there. We are in the process of building Rodney Weesner's Rock Chassis website at www.rockchassis.com, the temp page is up now and Riley www.rileytech.com is working on putting a Gold Crown button on the products pop up bar. That should be on there really soon.

We are now working on the full size body panels for the cars. As soon as a delivery date is known we'll let you know. Still a lot more to do but even with this slow economy we are progressing quite well and so far we are still on target to run the cars this year.

I forgot to check and see sc06's response was and as normal I see it's the same ole same old. As far as keeping speeds managable do you mean things like restrictor plates and 5 rows deep of side by side racing? WOW it will be NASCAR plate racing with semi-openwheels and just as boring.

Get back to me when USAC finally has some viable reason to get this series interesting. I'll take the Silver Crown cars on dirt (even a dusty dry slicked used up track) over these things any day. The two "New Gen" races I went to were not something I want to go to again.
