C. PA system is operational including several new speakers

"Speaking of speakers", THAT has had a lousy PA system for years. Glad to see improvements are being made. If you guys are listening, my long held complaint is the announcer seems to always give the driver's name and qual (if held) time as the car is firewalled on the front stretch. The PA is way overmatched by the car noise. How about trying to do that when he is on the backstretch? I know....buy a program if you want to know who is driving (we already know most) but that doesn't help with the times. And, one more thing. A lap counter visable from the stands would be a welcome addition. I'm looking forward to some racin' at THAT.

THAT is not the only track that waits till the car in on the main straight to announce car & driver info.

It pretty much seem like most of the tracks I go to, do the same thing. I send E-Mails and talked to track people, but nothing seems to work.

I wish someone would explain to me why track announcers do it.

I like the idea that a few tracks are going to broadcast the announcer over an FM frequency. The only bad thing about that is you end up giving info to everyone in your section that doesn't have a radio. However it's a good idea if you have a small pocket radio along.

I think there is a plan for something this.

It's probably more difficult for the announcers at the quarters where they get around in 11 or 12 seconds...and the backstraight isn't very far away. At Terre Haute's big half where they time in 19 or more and the back is almost in the next county it should be easier. I've never really had a problem hearing at Bloomington, Haubstadt, Kokomo, L'burg, etc. I think these guys will get it figured out.

That is something ive always strived to do during Time Trials, wait until the car passes through turns one and going into two. It was always frustrating to me as well when I was younger trying to write down times.

I was over there this afternoon. There was a piece of heavy equipment moving dirt from the back stretch to the front stretch. A large piece of concrete, in front of the grandstand, has been painted with a checkered flag pattern. They were in the process of making new sponsor ad boards. And the place was looking mowed and kept up. All signs that these guys are doing exactly what they said they were going to do. You can just see the ol' Action Track rising from the ashes.
