Blankets and seat hogs have been going on for ever, 45 years ago we had blanket wars at Flemington speedway weekly.
What warms my heart is that although I have yet to be there in person Kokomo is by far my favorite track and I'm happy that they had the place packed. If I could do one more thing in racing it would be running at Kokomo, it is 100% my style track. You have no idea how lucky you are if it's your weekly track.
We have a pretty little track up here in Susquehanna county, tucked along the river. It would be a perfect bullring for nonwing sprints. Instead we have bumper car BB modifieds and follow the leader winged "racing".

Knoxville has no choice on the smoking, Iowa law prohibits smoking in the stands.

I have stadium seats for my wife and mother but I have also purchased the ones that are narrow enough not to protrude past the bench while still giving back support.

No, I only took up one space. I didn't affect the seat in front, there were a few empty seats behind me, anybody could have sat there, nobody even came by looking for a seat. Backstretch was pretty full but not jampacked. Jeez, I was trying to be considerate. Nobody around complained.... I don't see why somebody on this forum should....

We attended the USAC National Midget/UMP Summernational event at Lincoln, Illinois July 2nd. The grandstands were every bit as full at Lincoln as they were at Kokomo Saturday night, maybe even a bit fuller.

Setting two rows behind us was a guy who appeared to be in his 40's and appeared to have his significant other and a couple of children who appeared to be between the ages of 6 and 10 years of age. He had the good fortune of arriving early enough to tape down 2 blankets well prior to the beginning of the racing activities. One blanket was two rows behind us, the other was on the seats in the row immediately behind us. It became clear as the night wore on that the reason for the blanket in the row just behind us was not because he had friends or family coming but rather so no one would set in front of these folks. Even though this didn't affect our group is still bothered me given how tight seating was. A situation like this is why there should be some specific and enforceable blanket rules or the policy should be abolished altogether.

Manzanita had the most pragmatic blanket policy and it is a good model for all dirt tracks. Workers came through the grandstands just before the spectator gates were opened and took up all blankets and piled them just outside the spectator gates. You could look through the pile and get your blanket back as you entered the seating area. You could tape it down at that point but not before.

Silver Crown Championship Dirt Cars properly driven on a one mile dirt track are classic poetry in motion. Using that analogy, Jack Hewitt is one of the greatest poets of all time.

That is also the law here. A friend of mine who works for excise says outdoor venues like race tracks are going to be the next area to crack down on. He said they are talking about not only fines for the smoker, but big fines for the tracks that don't police it themselves.

Half of Ohios Bars, Bowling Ally's Taverns etc went out of buisness after the law as enacted here. Reds attendance is down 30%

Keep going, It's no wonder people are staying home or going to places not under the rule of UMBRELLA POLITICIANS.

Why not ban alchohol too?

It's interesting to see the discussions and articles about how fans complaining and social media are having a negative impact on short track racing, yet I see many races this year with record crowds, standing room only, and sellouts. I guess since we aren't any good at making predictions, we might as well be good at b*tching, and b*tching about other people that b*tch.
