Ok, just coming on here to clarify and appoligize for what happened. I actually only took the car into the track to use the headlights to load up my teammates car that got crashed the night before. It was a chassis/motor, and we had to carry it into the trailer. Well once everything was loaded, the track was empty, lights out, and we were the only by standers around i decided to cut a couple laps. On the third lap, i spun, decided that was enough and went to pull out the gate. I was met by a bunch of people that heard the action but didnt get to see it. So i went back out. didnt get away with a spin the second time, :redflag: and I scraped the wall.
I have talked with the grounds manager and the promoter and appoligized for the incident and lack of judgement. Everything is good, i made a point to make sure that this wouldnt affect USAC coming back there and the manager said that it wouldnt be a factor, and that everything is ok for the next time.
There were no alchohol/drugs involved, just bad judgement on my part. The car had only a scraped LR quarter panel. I was not arrested, nor do i have any charges pressed. Not sure what the whole deal on the trash cans is, but i was not involved in that.
Once again my appologies to the track, USAC, fans and fellow drivers. It was a mistake on my part alone, and i have learned from it. The last thing i flew to California to do is hurt the appeal of non-wing racing.
Thank you,
-Daron Clayton

Although I may be biased as my screen name suggests, Huge props to you Daron for manning up and coming on here and taking responsibility as well as setting the story straight. Everyone f--ks up every once in a while. Go get that 10G'S at Haubstadt in a couple of weeks.

gotta give respect to someone who stands up and tells exactly what happened.
i wish there were more like that!
so..back in the day, i decided to take a few laps around flemington after the lights went out...built 69 roadrunner...i figured i could do at least as good as the sportsmen...and alcohol was a big factor in this decision.....pulled on the track thru the back straight gate, turned right and slowly made my way around to the front straight...turned on the lights and gassed it up...made it all the way to the first turn before i spun her around about 3 times and decided that i had the wrong compound on the right rear...turned the lights back of and slowly drove back to the back gate where i was met by 4 security guards and 2 state troopers.....somehow i got outta there without getting busted but it was touch and go for a while.....would i do it again? yeah...but i dont drink anymore so i would make it thru one this time :greenflag:

I'll be the first to admit that I had a pretty negative opinion of you after I read what happened, so, I also have to be the first to admit that it take a big man to stand up be accountable for your actions. I'm impressed. Keep the shiny side up and rock on cowboy.
