Me

I still like the idea of a boxing ring right next to the Winners circle on the front straight. If you have a grievance instead of doing something stupid on the race track just call the driver out and settle it in the ring and look stupid for the crowd. Get some big old 20 oz gloves and only have one 3 min bout, that should be enough. Talk about great entertainment!!!! A lot of people would pay just for the fights during intermission between shows.

Heck we might even get some IOW challenge matches in>>>we would only be required to use finger jabs however.

Maybe if those drivers had to pay or fix what ever they broke it may help stop it, team I work w/ is not a hi dollar group. We crew members buy our own pit pass cause I have fun doing it. If it's not fun I'll stay home & my driver knows that, after the last race last year after the checkered fell our car was rammed. The rear bumper destroyed on a cool off lap, said driver blocked him causing him to spin. Driver was suspended for the year (this year), guess who's back, he's a great driver but to do that wasn't called for

Take the cages off and leave the Hans devices in the trailer. Then see how clean the racing gets!

I didn't name names of who I thought was a bad driver or somebody who is intentionally wrecking people. If you read what I posted, I was speculating on who the OP was referring to in the original post with my own opinion.

Just like I said in my first reply to the thread everybody has a different advantage point of each race because we all sit at different places and we will never agree what happened. What someone else might of saw as an intentional wreck, I might of saw as a driver having no place to go. To each their own though.

Truth is, "many of these drivers didn't get shown enough love when they were little."

I think they should outlaw front bumpers and nerf bars. After I was the Copper World Classic, I was spun out the the 2nd place car coming out of turn 2. We were still probably running 120mph. Lucky no one was hurt.

Personally I think some of the problem is the Quarter Midget culture .... Drivers from an early age do not learn to respect each other on the track as everytime there is an altercation the first thing they do is hit the kill switch and look at the judging tower and "beg" for a call. when a call goes their way they are congratulated for a job well done and when it doesn't they are told of some sort of favoritism or political agenda as to why little Johnny or Salley didn't get the call. It is not very often that that teachable moment is used to teach mutual respect as it is far too important for 5 year old NASCAR Bound Johnny Gordon or Sally Patrick to get that little trophy to prove their racing worth to Hendrick, Roush, or Stewart as not winning that JR Honda race may keep them from their shot at the bigtime.

Maybe Quarter Midget parental mentality is a problem. The kids are out to have fun the parents are sometimes too serious about the outcome. Guess it has always been that way. Are they still hitting them dumb kill switches? Maybe just plain old courtesy is missing. It needs to be learned early and usually taught by the parents to the kids. I raced Quarters starting in the 50's Myself and carried on into the early 70's off and on with other people. In the 50's we were taught to watch out for the other driver. The 60's came along with a bunch of new driving rules coming out of QMA. Black flags for touching cones in the turns was hard to live with. In the 70's I could see the parental influence starting to take over. I remember one mother throwing her shoes at the judges at one regional race. We thought it was kind of funny. I guess in the 80's ******** and other stuff started taking over. Racing is probably a lot like education>>>all the money in the world will not fix the problem unless the help of responsible adult parents is available also.

That goes back to a previous post "many of these guys did not get enough love as children". Can you remember any of those talks you had with your son returning from some far off race about what he did right and what he did wrong and how so and so responded to a situation?

Buying a kid a race car will not make him a racer, especially if the kid really doesn't want to be a racer and is really only racing to please the parents.
