Chastaj: I believe the discussion on "hobby sprints" is about car counts. Your comparison of Paragon to other tracks and the associated car counts is a prime example of what may be required to up car counts. Let's face it, most, if not all, local racing (sprints, modifieds, stocks, etc) is a form of hobby racing. Even USAC and to an extent WoO is, for the most part, a hobby for the car owners and all but a few of the drivers. Hobby or "professional" I believe fans just want to see exciting, competitive, side by side racing - oh, and good car counts.

Paragon in early 70's opened Easter Sunday with a afternoon race. Then everybody loaded up and hulled a$$ to Haubstadt usually for either twin 50's or 100 lappers for both sprint cars or stock cars
I don't know if you Charles was implying anything about Plymouth emergence as a potential weekly sprint track, but that's kinda what I get out of it. To me if they were to go that way, I think the best option would be wings. I believe that it would be good for everyone, with least effect on the non wing tracks. Indiana has no weekly wing track, and I'm sure a few hoosier would like to do that if they had an option. Also ez to draw some Michigan cars, and possibly Ohio and Illinois too. They turn their open wheel Wednesdays into non wing Wednesdays. Plus, didn't Warsaw run mostly wings, I can't remember? Got to be more than a few of those refugees still around. Just a thought.

Actually I wasn't on Plymouth as they've tried working into the system. Running Weds shows and such. MTS isn't hurting any existing track that I know off.
In fact I wasn't trying to insult any track. There's some in Eastern IL and a track in SW IN trying to get in and I believe there is room.
Just the Timing is what I question. But up against a good show. Plymouth should run friday before the Darland, not against it. Helps both. That kinda thing. Tons of sundays and fridays with only one or none running. Not everyone could make em. Yet there are those that can who might not be able to do Sat's.
I don't think Gas Cities problem was ever car count. The ones who could support it did.
I would like to see a track in the Southern half of the state consider running Sunday nights. With only Kokomo running Sunday and being up North, it leaves a lot of cars and fans down South idle. I know there are problems that come from running Sundays, but having a track available for fans and teams that don't want to drive 3-4 hours to get home after the races before a work day would be great. I have been to Kokomo a couple of times, but that 4 hour drive home afterwards followed by getting up for work at 4:30 keeps me from going more often.
